SM to GK

G'day boys and girls.

I have a small but growing guard army, and would like to add some GKs and an Inquisitor. I have the Inquisitor, but I have yet to buy the GKs. Now, I am a bit of a cheap...well, cheapy, and I don't want to fork out such a large amount of money for so few models. I tried to get some cheap second hand, but I couldn't find any. So, my question is, has anybody tried converting normal Space Marines into GK? Will it even work. I do have my doubts, but some of the helmets are similar, and maybe with a bit of plasticard, and some green stuff....

Anybody got any ideas, or failing that, pictures?

Thanks in advance.

Caiaphus.

EDIT:

In hindsight, should this perhaps be in the converting forum? Whatever it is you crazy SM types call it. ;)

IT can be done, ive done it but all in all i think its far too much work and willprobably end up costing you just as much to make plastic ones. Price of green stuff and plasticard plus enough models with the right variants of helmet ect... Honestly for the result, it dosnt get you anything as nice as the GW models. The only person i will recomend it to is someone who has used all the variations of the model and doesn't want the same 5 poses repeated through their entire army. especially the justicar.

Here is how to do GKT from SMT :

I know there is the same type of tutorial for PAGK, just can't find it yet.

So the conversion are possible. With them, you'll have more poses and variety... but i'm not sure you'll save money.

At the moment, if you live in the Euro zone, mail order your GK from England : You'll save 1/3 compare to euro!
