Combat_Vet
After finding out that my wolf guard in scout armor was a no-go, I am in need of a Wolf Guard for my scout squad. Any ideas on how to make a lighter armor? I'm thinking of adding gloves instead of hands, one bear arm, and lots of pouches. Thoughts? I'm arming him with a chainsword and plasma pistol. Good or bad? Any input would be great. Better days, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160494-wolf-guard-in-scout-squad/ Share on other sites
Vash113
Power fist and combi-melta/plasma all the way for gear. Personally I like full Power Armor for the Wolf Guard Pack Leader, the Scouts wear cut down Power Armor as well, not actual Scout model at least the way I model them. To further differentiate them from normal Scouts. Beef
Just use a bare head, Some catachan arms and normal sm legs and torso or hace the guy bare chest. My wolf gaurd that leads my scouts just has a bare torso and arms from the maruader plastic kits with very small shoulder pads. Look good to when you use the one beared helmetles head from that same sprue Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160494-wolf-guard-in-scout-squad/#findComment-1883685 Share on other sites
muzzyman1981
What I did for my Wolf Guard Leader for my Scouts was just leave off the shoulder pads, it gives him his power armor but lessens the bulk and looks more scouty. As for wargear, power weapon and plasma pistol, maybe melta bomb (since my scouts are mainly there for tank busting). Grey Mage
Id say combi-melta and a powerweapon or power fist. Mostly because it gives you an extra tank busting shot in case your squads melta doesnt do the trick and it gives you an extra shot against heavy infantry like terminators et all that ignores their saves. The powerweapon/fist depends on wether you want him charging vehicles or if hes there to help against the mobs of infantry. Either is a good way to go... just personal taste. Combat_Vet
OUCH! I've built my scouts for hand to hand. Maybe I should rethink the scouts squad altogether. I've built a rough base for the WG scout leader. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/P1010792.jpg The only combi weapons I have are for terminators. Far too big for the scout. I knocked one together using the tutorials. I hope it will be easy enough to recognize. Wolf Lord Mjolnir
Nice conversion dude! I run with a Wolf Scout pack of four with a meltagun and led by a Wolf Guard with Power fist AND combi melta! You may think that overkill but you really want to make sure that tank dies the turn your scouts come in and if the two melta guns fail (which that have before) that three attacks from a power fist and certainly going to shred it! Here is my blog which features my scouts but strangely I have not posted an image of my wolf guard pack leader. Combat_Vet
@WLM - Awesome work. The scouts really are dynamic. I'll have to give that a try. The TDA is also something I may try. My recent attempt at a pre-heresy termie ended on a bad note. Thanks for the inspiration. better days, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160494-wolf-guard-in-scout-squad/#findComment-1884634 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
I like your guy... as for his combi, it looks a heck of alot like the one out of the space marine commander box so I doubt anyone will have problems recognizing it. As for CC theres nothing wrong with outfitting the squad that way. Throw a pair of power weapons in, a couple of BP+CC and a guy with a meltagun and they retain their CC punch, losing all of one attack and 10pts in return for the ability to reliably bust artillery and slow moving vehicles. And with a new IG codex coming out soon you know you want it.
