EnigmaShadow
Hey there, Been working hard recently, so thought I should post up what I've done in the meantime. I'm planning on doing 18 minis of all the Space marine First Founding Chapters (So one of each chapter) but not Pre heresy, But AT heresy. So basically when they were in the middle of the fighting if that makes sense. Anyway, here is my first one. It's a space wolf guy. All colours are NMM, it was my first attempt at it. Some is good... some.... Not so good. I was very please with the freehand work I did on him most of all. Comments and Critique are of course very welcome. Gun arm and Space Wolf Icon. Yelow on black... yea.... hard, but not bad for some of my first real freehand work. Right arm. Badly converted chainsword. The base is all new, but the blade is the old version. This is front on. you can't really see it, but I was happy with the base. He's sorta standing on a rock. This is another mini I entered for the Games Workshop Chapter competition. I won "Best painted mini" for it. I got a couple fo sweek Veteran models and some paints for me effort. Not bad. Love the base on this guy too. I now use him as a Sternguard in my army which will now be..... Night Watch! For those that are thinking the chapter icon is wrong. Yea I didn't see that tiny section in the new codex until someone pointed it out on the day I entered. But I like mine better ;) freehand Icon and just that pretty much lol. Him in most of his coolness. His right shoulder has a green stuff'd version of the chapter symbol. Wasn't too bad. needed more work but didn't have much time to make and enter him into the comp. So was a little rushed. Still like him though. Hope you like. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160505-practice-minis/ Share on other sites
SpudWhitman
Superb painting. You've put a lot of expression into the Space Wolf's face, and the freehand is quite crisp on both figures. Nice beakie helmet conversion as well. If your army is going to be your very own Night Watch you'll have a myriad of opportunities to get all artistic and do various little V** D***h flying eyeballs on all the shoulderpads. Wolfman Walt
I really like that shade of grey on the Space Wolf. They both look good, but I really like that Space Wolf and I'd say the test was succesful. Combat_Vet
I've been doing my wolves chest eagles with an orange wash. But, I really really like yours much better. Any chance you could teall me how you did it and what colors you used? Great work by the way. EnigmaShadow
Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with them. But after seeing the Golden Demon winners for the Oz/NZ one, I think I need to take it up a notch. Those are like... not even worthy of the top 5 or 10 from what I saw. So no pressure. Basically for the people who are looking at the minis and not posting, (258 views and 5 posts?) Feel free to comment. You know you want to! 200plus, I used a NMM mix for that. I can't fully remember the mix that I used, but I started at black and built my way up. I used a gold bracelet to try and get the colours right. I think it was a mix of browns to be honest. I only used GW paints for all my minis so that might make it easier for you to find out. There is a really good NMM tutorial somewhere that shows the exact colours to use from GW, so that should help you out. Anything else you want to know just let me know. I'll be doing a Tutorial/WIP for my next GD mini, so if you're curious keep an eye out for that.
