LIONS_SPEAK
Good Morning EVeryone, A query reading the BRB the Monstrous Creatures are treated like a vehicle for cover saves. Right? Lets say a carnifex is behind a group of gaunts or a small bush can it claim a 4+ cover save. My friend has just played a guy who insists that this is how it works? I think this is wrong as because they are treated like vehicles it only gains a cover save if 50% of the model is obscured from the perspective of the shooter by the area terrain or the intervening unit (IM aware the exceptions but these dont apply to vehicles, do they?) I hope i have explained it just wanted to clear it up as im playing him next week. Many Thanks. nighthawks
you have it correct. 50% obscured to get cover. it can get tricky for mixed units of MC/vehicles and normal models (tyrant and guard, artillery and crew, etc...) but a single MC is pretty cut and dry. LIONS_SPEAK
I thought i was right my friend who play Blood Angels lost because this guy kept claiming 4+ cover saves off little bushes and gaunts......dirty dirty man. Thanks, I've just got to find a way to beat him now, should be easier. You seem to be becoming my go to man Mr Nighthawks. Many thanks again. If at least half of the body (RAW head, arms, legs, torso) is blocked from view by other models, bushes, soda can, etc. then just like vehicles the model is in cover. Something simply being between the shooter and the MC is not enough, it must cover 50% of the model per the vehicle rules. Morticon
I dont have a page number on me- but its really clearly defined. Ask your nid playing acquaintance to read the passage to you before you play him next  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160606-cover-saves-monstrous-creatures/#findComment-1886150 Share on other sites
Steelmage99
Yep. Even a couple of Gaunts cannot obscure 50+% of a Carnifex, unless modelled for that effect. Warriors, on the other hand, obscure plenty. And they in turn can get a coversave from Gaunts in front of them.
