Combat_Vet
Greets, Several people have asked me how to sculpt fur on a mini. Rather than send them individual PM's I will set it down here for them to find. If you can use it great, if not feel free to return the idea for a full refund, no questions asked :) The most important thing is PRACTICE. It is the key to getting better. At least that's what I'm told, so I continue to practice. Practice steps: Step 1 - Roll some GS into a thin roll (once this is done, flatten the roll down) http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/step1.jpg Step 2 - cut lines along the edges AWAY from a center line http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/step3.jpg Step 3 - cut lines connecting your first lines with a curve (to do this twist the tool as you cut the lines http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/step4.jpg Step 4 - with a tool make thinner lines along the edges of the fur, make sure the fur is not "flat" at the edges http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/step5.jpg Do this several times. The good thing is you can use some GS over and over before it cures. On an actual mini it will be just about the same. However, I usually do my furs in stages. It allows me to "bulk up" the fur in the right areas. It will look like this: Step 1 - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/fur3.jpg Step 2 - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/fur4.jpg Step 3 - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/fur5.jpg Step 4 - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/fur6.jpg Step 5 - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/fur7.jpg Step 6 - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/fur8.jpg All that is left is to clean up the edges and you should have something like this - http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/furfinal.jpg I'm not saying this is the best method, I'm not even claiming that it is very good. It is a basic, easy, fast way to sculpt fur. Try it out and modify it as you see fit. Hope it helps someone. Combat_Vet
I get my GS from the GW online store. The mini is just a Rune Priest I'm building from marine bits with the addition of a new marauder horseman head from the warhammer fantasy box.
