So here is the deal, I am assembling my grey hunters, blood claws soon to follow.

I know I will be buying ven dread when I decide to jump up to a 1000 pts

So right now I am going to have 9 grey hunters (turned one of them in battler leader aka FIRST HQ choice) I have one multimelta and a power fist. Battler leader will have power weapon (frostblade?). And then I will have 10 blood claws

What should I equip these guys with. And what else should I buy to make 500 pts?

Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated. I really want a set list, so I can really get focused on building and painting with a goal in mind

Thanks guys.

I would drop the idea of giving the Greyhunters a Multimelta, cause they can't have that.

So as for a start list on 500 points you could take.

Wolfguard Battle leader:

-Frostblade, boltpistol, frags, wolfpelt

4 Spacewolf Scouts

-Meltagun

9 Greyhunters:

-Powerfist, powerweapon, Meltagun, Rhino

9 Bloodclaws + 1 Wolfguard Leader

-Powerfist, powerweapon, Flamer, Rhino

-Wolfguard leader has: Frags, Boltpistol, Powerfist, Wolfpelt

Its not much but its a start.

Grey Hunters cannot have any form of heavy weapon, so that Multi-melta is going to become either a Wolf Guard Bodyguard with heavy weapon or a Long Fang. Other than that, Frisian's list is pretty good, I'd have to say go with that.

A power weapon is any weapon that's flashier than a normal CCW. Me, I paint my power weapons a purple color with a thin shine of Boltgun Metal to make them stand out. Relic Blades (for my Revenants) get purple with a white shiny layer. Fluffwise, Power weapons exert a electric forcefield around themselves, allowing them to slice through bone and armor. Of course there are exceptions like the Frost Blade, which is made from the teeth of a Kraken (big mambo Tyranid beasties that prowl Fenris' oceans) and Tyranids, with their super-strong Broodlord.

For the Scouts, you can have one plasma gun or 1 melta gun or 1 flamer. However, you can give the pack two plasma pistols.

Edit: Also, if you haven't already, check out the FAQs. The links are in my signature or up top on the forum, so make sure to take a look! :P

Looks good like that. If you feel up to it, a AoBR box can be useful. Of course there's a good bit of conversion to done with AoBR, but it'll bulk up your army fast and it has a Dreadnought (good for us, since we have HQ Dreadnought). Just suggesting, but make sure to keep us updated.

To me a Space Wolves list is very basic at 500 points.... this is what I would run...

500 Pts - Space Wolves Roster - Basics

HQ: Wolf Guard Battle Leader (1#, 93 Pts)

1 Wolf Guard Battle Leader @ 93 Pts

True Grit; Wolf Pelt; Frost Blade (x1); Storm Shield (x1)

1 Wolf Pelt @ [3] Pts

Troops: Grey Hunter Pack (10#, 261 Pts)

9 Grey Hunter Pack @ 261 Pts

Close Combat Weapon (x7); True Grit; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Bolter (x9); Power Fist (x1); Power Weapon (x1); Wolf Guard Leader

1 Wolf Guard Leader @ [47] Pts

True Grit; Wolf Pelt; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Power Weapon (x1); Bolter

1 Wolf Pelt @ [3] Pts

Troops: Blood Claws Pack (9#, 146 Pts)

9 Blood Claws Pack @ 146 Pts

Bolt Pistol (x9); Close Combat Weapon (x7); Frag Grenades; Power Fist (x1); Power Weapon (x1)

Total Roster Cost: 500

With this list there isnt much to it. The Grey Hunters provide fire support, the Blood Claws, led by the WGBL charge forward into CC as quickly as they can.

No heavy weapons are included, because armour at 500 points is very rare, but there is a Power Fist just in case something hard does come up. In my own mind at least, the strength of the Wolves is that we have more power weapons than anyone else, so use them.
