Power Weapon... Weapons?

Hi guys,

Ive got 40 Bloodclaws and 30 Grey Hunters to paint up (had 30 already, then got a REALLY good bargain on Ebay) - I'm painting the bodies seperately, then I'll be adding the arms and weapons. Here comes the silly question, but I'd rather clarify than make them and mess it up...

Which weapons from the sprues count as power weapons? Obviously knives and chainswords count as normal CC weapons, and a PF is a PF, but does everything else count as Power Weapons? There's an axe that I can use, but just wanted to check if I needed to buy another sprue or will other players recognise that these are Power Weapons?

Sorry for the silly question, its been 15 years since I last played a game.

Cheers

A Power Weapon can be anything that you can imagine it to be. For example, if a Iron Priest was so inclined, he could make a Power Paper Clip by hooking a very large battery to a paper clip. If you want to make it simple, paint all your CCW (chainswords, knives, broken bottles, what have you) one color (boltgun metal let's say) and then all your PW another color (ice blue for the sake of the example). Nothing actually says it has to be one thing. Just tell your opponent all ice blue weapons are power weapons and you're set.

If you want to go by what is on the weapon itself then also anything that has what looks like wires extending onto the blade of the weapon.....

As Bran said almost anything could be a power weapon....you could have a power vacuum cleaner or mop if you wanted to....just have to find a way to make sure it's recognizable for yourself and preferably an opponent to tell its a power weapon.

Generally Power Weapon models are defined by a metal blade with power nodes coming off from the hilt or handle onto the blade.

So for instance if the Axe your talking about comes from the SW Accessory sprue then yes that's a Power Axe.

I paint my power weapons different from normal ones.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.

Thanks Max_Dammit for the pics, they look really good. Give me a few more weeks and I'll post pics of my first finished blood claws.

Am I right in thinking that if I've got a squad with 2 PW's and 2 PP's - it makes sense to put them all on two models, rather than on 4?

Thanks again.

Look at the pic of the biker real close :D
