Bluescribes + Other CoC works

I'm sure this will be covered tactically in the Review topic, so I'll focus on the model here. Or lack thereof.

I'm converting one up, any C&C, particularly on the base:

1. Blank.

2.

3.

And possible Bluescribe itself - given the first a staff, second one will have a book.

I like #3 myself. I'd add maybe a second angular ruin sticking up diagonally, and then go for a nearly-flat one on the base to camoflauge and maybe even reinforce the support. Or, put the angled one up in a way that the base can rest against it and/or brace off it.

I think that'd give you a dynamic look.

The REAL fun will be slapping the Scribes onto the disc....I do not envy you that.

I don't like either of the bases with COD pieces on them. #2 flattens out and freezes the mini as a whole, while #3 will be blocking a clean view of the scribe itself. I feel they're too x/y (dimensional) for a tzeentch model...try hacking a piece and putting it on a low angle. One of those light poles would be perfect, actually. Maybe like 35-40 degrees up from the base, angled up and toward the back. That way it looks like it's speeding over the ruined cityscape in search of more shards, rather than traipsing through buildings.

Thanks for the replies, greatly appriciated all. Well, no positive feedback for the wall, so I'll scrap that. Wasn't particularly convinced myself, to be frank. The idea is an urban themed army, matching my Wolves and (soon to be) Renegade Guard... I just like a coherent basing style. For bigger beasties, I'm going for more obvious, CoD style bits, so a butress or a wall seemed ideal. But having read the comments, it does look a little... clean. So, a couple of minutes and the bitz box produced:

@ Cap'n Mal - it's a normal pink Horror, with the staff from this dude. Don't really know how fluffy this is, but the other will have a book, and they'll be bits of parchment on the disc itself.

@ Seahawk - thanks for the feedback - I've had a play.

@ Raptor1313 - The disc has a little indent in the top, that should do for this first. The second will wait until I'm alone, and will almost certainly involve the sort of cursing to make a sailor blush.

I like the changes.

If anything, I'd suggest heating the plastic and warping it juuuust a little. Maybe boil some water, submerge with tongs, bend gently, and then submerge in cool water.

Give it a look like reality itself warping around the Bluescribes' passage.

Right, update time. I've had a bit on recently but I've managed to get a bit of work on these two done:

As you can see, I've taken Raptors advice on warping the struts and it's worked really well.

There is just about enough room for both, it's a bit of a squeeze though.

Next up, add some parchments amd CLEAN THE GODAMN MOLDLINES!!!! C&C as always welcome.

Man am I loving this one. The warped pillars are spot on. Looking forward to next batch of images.

Maybe scatter a few books over the disc? I always saw these 2 as hopping around on this massed pile of parchment, tossing pages about wildly and shrieking spells at anything damn foolish enough to come close. They are keeping a record of every single spell in existence, after all.

Oh, and quills. Gotta have quills. Pens simply won't do. No magic in them.

By the Warp, let this thread live once more!

And so here begins my Call of Chaos Plog: 2 Princes, The Bluescribes, Skulltaker and something else...

Heres the latest on the Bluescribes, so far it's mostly blocking out the basecoat.

Later... the Skulltaker himself! Maybe...

Thanks for all the feedback guys - Still cracking on with these. Here's the latest WIP:

Quite pleased with the way the rust came out on this one. Wondering whether to add a Blue Gloss wash to simulate Warpcraft on the columns or just leave it.

And finally, a view of some more Daemonic reinforcements.

I am still working... honest.

Here's the latest. Scribes are nearly done, and I like the flaming faces effect I've managed.

And having gone from no special characters at all in 8K pts of Wolves, here's my second in 1K pts of Daemons - The Skulltaker, Executioner of Khorne.

Enjoy!

Right, exam leave has begun so hopefully I'll be able to find a few mintues every day to chip away at some Daemons. Finally got the wings for the first Prince sorted, here he is before I spray him.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I'm getting towards the end of this challenge now. Sort of...

Speaking of which, here's the latest on the Tzeentch Prince.

Things still to do: Base, finish the sword, touch up the back and face, lots of fiddly little details. But he's getting there.

The paintjob looks quite messy on him, and I'm not trying to be mean. Looks like you kind of took a paintbrush, put yellow on it, and smeared it across him. I'd reconsider this. Try going back over him and either leaving him blue and doing the armour in a gold. You'd get a similar scheme to Thousand Sons as well (they're blue and gold, not blue and yellow). Just my opinion.
