Mega Apocalypse. I had been bragging (or so THEY said) that my Space Wolves could fend off all comers.... they decided to take me up on it.

My 7,000 points of Space Wolves vs thier combined forces. Tyranids, Ultramarines, Dark Eldar, Eldar, Imperial Guard, and Chaos. About 12,000 points all told.

Just for fun (and because we are gluttons for punishment!) we said screw the objectives, play it like annihilation.

It was brutal.... but after several ale breaks, and a day and a half later..... The Wolves were VICTORIOUS!

Though I must admit, it was not by much. I will never forget seeing Ragnar fall, followed by Logan and Bjorn standing back to back to fend off nearly 50 Dark Eldar!

My first Apocalypse game (4th Ed). The Wolves had been the only one who had taken an objective. Myself, Rune Master Dark Bjoern and my retinue of four WG terminators (2 pairs LC and 2 with TH/SS) came under attack of three Daemon Princes at once. But i had forseen this. Under the protection of my psychic abilities we had been able to get the advantage and killed all three in the same round. One turn later a Broodlord and his foul ´stealerbrut also learned it the hard way that SW are the Emperor finest. My WG and i survived the whole battle without a scratch.
for me, one of the greatest moments came as i was fighting bugs. i was sitting in cover on an objective as 2 carnifexes tooled out charged an 8 man unit of grey hunters. the fighting was fierce and it got real intense there for a few moments, for the squad had but one power fist, and the 2 power weapons only did 2 wounds to one fex. but in the end, the sqaud dragged one down, leaving the other for the wgsl, who put a serious beating on the other one, to completely dodge like 8 attacks from it. it was a thing of beauty i tell you, a thing of beauty

ahhh so many good memories *throws back another ale*

i would still have to go with one of my last games against orks. all 4000 points of my space wolves against 4000 points of some ork stuff( i don't like orks so don't know what many of them are). but basically by the end of turn 2 he lost about 35% to 40% of his army including his war boss and a squgoth(spelling?).

but then again there is always my sig.... and look look on his face....

good time... good times

One time I was playing apocalypse, about 25000-30000 points a side with my 1500 points worth of space wolf HQ's and one squad of Scouts. In the last turn, the enemy superheavys were very effective and when the smoke cleared there was one objective controlled by each side, with a 14" crater around the centre objective, except for the one survivor a Wolf Scout, 4" from the objective... ah it was a good day to be a space wolf. He was later promoted to wolf lord of course...

Why too much responsibility?

Ok mine, so this was actually my first game with my Wolves. It was a 2500pt Game against Black Legion Chaos Marines and I was using a Drop Pod list in 4th Edition's rules. By turn 3 I was taking the chaos player apart and he'd fallen right for my decoy, a Long Fang Pack and Rune Priest but Abaddon and a squad of 4 Chosen Terminators have come piling out of a Chaos Land Raider that got blown up and just waiting to assault. I shoot them up as much as I can but drop only two. I frown as they charge and rip apart a squad of Grey Hunters but an idea strikes me. The Rune Priest rushes forth from cover and calls the mighty storms around Wolf Lord Silvar Stormblade, who rushes into combat with the blazzing tempest around him and in a single flurry of attacks cuts Abaddon to ribbons while his Wolf Guard shred the surviving Chosen to my opponents infinite dismay and before any of them even got to do so much as make a single attack!

Take that Abaddon the spoiled. ;)

Why too much responsibility?

A Wolf Lord should value all his wolves' abilities and many a time I've relied on the advice of a seasoned wolf scout in finding a covered route to a weak point that unlocked their defensive matrix.

Proud though they may be, lacking in responsibility they are not, nor in courage do they lack ;)

MMM.. far to many to remember, but one of my recent sagas (apocalypse game) would be against a Dark Eldar Wych Cult army to my Sternhammer's Wulfen Guard. It was a bloody mess, but my wolves stood triumphant. After that game, my oponent wanted to avenge his loss, so he wanted a regular 40K 5th Edition, this time with his Dark Eldar to my Space Wolves and not my 13th Company. I defeated his army, it was a hard fight.. my guns held long, killing many of their kind, until they finally crossed and met me in battle with blade in hand. My grey hunters and wolf guard along with my Rune Priest and Wolf Priest won the game for me that night ;)

This one was good for Wolftime...

Getting ready for an Apocolypse tourny I practiced with a friend who used IG with several versions of BaneBlades and a Warhound Titan. 4000 pts on each side we played and in the second or third turn a WGBG in TDA and a single Chainfist with one stroke destroyed the Warhound Titan (6 - Structure point re-roll, 6 - Structure point re-roll then another 6) The explosion was awesome....

Then, during the tournament, we ended up playing each other and guess what - the same Wolf Guard Bodyguard with chain fist did it again on the second turn!!! (6,6,5). The whole store must have come by to watch

My friend wasn't too happy but my Wolf Guard holds a spot of honor among the halls of feasting...

Wena

Much like Marek, I have many sagas to recall, but for now...

My Wolf Lord and his Terminator Bodyguard descended from the skies into the midst of a Guard battleline, their pod arriving just behind the enemy Baneblade. Accurate Assault Cannon and melta fire crippled the behemoth, before the Lascannons of my Predator saw it die. But the battle had but begun... nearly 3 score Guardsmen hurled themselves at my Lord, and he and his men were more than their equal. Though bloody, my Lord was the victor, killing the enemy commander and Commissar in single combat.

One of my most recent games though its probably going on a year now itself (I don't play much) my wolves go face to face with some green skins. The player is a good friend but refused to pull any punches even though I hadn't played in about 9 months. He sends a mob 20 strong of the elite ork boys at a full squad of blood claws. the claws take down 9 of the 20 orks but the ork player takes 14 of the 15 pups down with them. The last remaining blood claw flees combat and the ork player leaves him to go off the table. The lone wolf after recovering some composure but turning to see his battle brothers slain behind him goes into a mad lust for blood and charges the orks killing four of them and receiving no harm in turn, the orks knowing they clearly stand no chance flee and are cut down by the pursuing hero. Unfortunately the next turn he unleashes 3 rockets on the lone wolf and he rides one into the halls of Russ.

so your SW 7000 points took on a 12000 army ? or 5000 ?

Vass! It was not sinle combat! My officer hack 2 of you bodyguard down himself. Also you added a dread into the party.

Sniff... poor Fred...

Well, the Lord and your HQ's were the last ones alive. Then my Lord killed your two. That's single combat.

As for the Dread, he was killing Stormtroopers on the other side of the board.

Hmmm, I don't know why, but I enjoy butchering poor guardsman,

Honestly, the most priceless moment was when a Tau dude challenged me, he was a new guy around, and didn't realize I was playing drop pods. Quite to his chagrin, watching Ragnar and Co., along with some Grey Hunters and Dreadnought picking apart his army was glorious. But then again, I have a thing against the Tau.

This was 4th edition; I was playing the attacker in a ambush scenario against Blood Angels. Instead of trying to sneak up on him, I rolled my whole force in first turn. I took out the defending force and as his reserves rolled on I took them out piecemeal. In the whole game, I think I only lost one Grey Hunter to a plasma gun shot. I don't think he ever played me again in that scenario.

Winning a game of 4k Pts againt 2k Tau and 2k Dark eldar in wich my WGBG took an entire turn of shooting from both armies, no one else was targetted. They shrugged off it all. They were then assaulted by 3 units of 10 witches, an archon, and his 10 retainers.... and the WGBL survived the first round to keep them all tied up and managed to decimate said retinue.

This gave the rest of my forces time to move up and engage, and to take three of the five objectives.

I was still a bit miffed though.... the guy whod come up with this scenario put us on a 8 foot long and 4 foot wide table... and we deployed on the 4s and had to run accross.

ok, i must repost for shear hilarity (one must of witnessed what accured to truely understand why):

so yesterday, my new roommate and his friends got together for some games of power armor goodness. BT, BA, GK, and my SW. the BA guy left and we decide to play a bigger game. we were doing 1.5k being that every one but me was getting back into the game. we decided that both sides would get two 1.5k lists to use. i made two just for fun lists of which one was 30 models and the other was 39. basically the game lasted all 7 turns and turned out to be a draw, 10 kill point to 10 kill points.

1250pts of 13th Company vs. about 50K worth of Necron, standing between my D'koi and the objective. (part of the Medusa V Campaign to take down the Cron Pylons.)

D'koi took down 9000+ points worth of Cron, and still were at about half strength, before the store closed. Lord alone cut through 25 Pariahs, four ten-man squads of Warriors, two Lords (one on Destroyer body), two three-man squads of Destroyers, and a Nightbringer.

THAT was an epic game.

Ah but you pups dont know what a fight is.

Now pull up a stool, grab an ale and a bite o meat and listen closely.

Twas way back when i was nowt but a claw myself. The heady days of 2nd edition and the foul xenos eldar had descended to the field of war.

Standing opposite them the might of the sons of russ. Squads of grey hunters disciplined and the barely restrained ferocity of the blood claws. In the midst ready to bring the judgement of the all father was Ragnar himself. On the flank walked the most ancient warrior of all...Bjorn the fell handed.

W ith a mighty howl the wolves advanced. The claws held on tight leash as the Greys provided supporting fire at the xenos. On the flank mighty Bjorn strode forward. Not through 1 turn, not 2, but 3 turns of increasing fire until at last upon the 4th...ragnar raised his head to the sky and let out a long triumphant howl. The claws unleashed rushed in to butcher the fouls xenos and the day was won.

To sum it up. After pumping every heavy weapon into bjorn on turn 1 and failing to damage him. My eldar opponent became frustrated. He then proceeded to ignore the rest of my army in a single minded determination to kill bjorn. At the end of the game the only damage to bjorn.....he lost the storm bolter from his claw. The rest either bouncing off his armour or being reduced to mundane by the dice pool modifier.

Great days.

Stories at the pub eh?

There was this one time, about 8 years ago when I was at a pub in Blackheath. After a while we deferred to a party down the road, and when I was crashed out in my sleeping bag, a Venezuelan bird (about 21 years old) hopped in and proceeded to........actually, did you mean wargaming stories? This does involve a "weapon" and a "sheath" though.
