[Very IMG Heavy] Sand Reavers army (?)

This is my first actual post here in BC, though I have watched the forums off and on for several months. I'm trying a new paint scheme for my marines, and would like to know what you all think of it.

I am very interested in any pointers anyone could give me. (I've seen what you people can do with a paint brush, so I'm sure there is some good advice just waiting to be given  )

Here are some of my marines that will hopefully be going under the brush soon.

and to give you some idea of progression, here are my older paint schemes, oldest on the right. (hence the dust)

and then moving into the newer marines, including the two first posted.

They look good! Clever little conversions such as the combat blade staff and the plasma/bolter they look really good! Your painting is clean and smooth, but a couple of things, highlight the black as it is a little flat and detracts from the nice bright scheme and do a little weathering on the lower legs a little bit of dry brushing and maybe a light wash of a suitably dark colour will do it!

As a first post bud, very good! Now get those mini's that are in the background done so we can have a look at them as well!

Thanks! I'm still fairly new at this though, and am not really sure how or what I should use to highlight and wash. Do you have any recommendations?

Here are a couple of links for weathering your minis, some are on tanks but the method is transferable to Marines.

These links are both good, its also worth having a look around the GW site to see what else they have on weathering. Just remember that however you base your marines needs to reflect in the weathering, say if you had snow bases, some mud and a little snow, or city bases then the weathering would be dusty and lots of chips on the armour. Hpe they help buddy!

I decided to see if I could achieve a higher level of depth in my models, and used a wash to bring out the details in the base coat. I'm still adding the first layers of bleached bone, so I'm not entirely sure what it is going to look like (I don't have a lot of painting time this week)

For contrast, here is the marine with the darker base coat next to a partially painted marine with the lighter base coat.

Any thoughts, recommendations?

I thought the similarity in their poses was a funny coincidence. :cuss
