Wing_Knight
I am looking for what GW colors i should use in order to paint my SW grey i have decided i do not want my wolves looking like smurfs light though space wolf grey is good but yea...I have pretty much all of the greys GW offers but i am having a hard time getting an idea to go from pot to model. I have used the SM Painter but i found that while i could get a decent scheme on there i don't have a way to get those colors hehe. I am not big on mixing paint least when i don't have an idea before i start. As for what i am looking for i will give you some examples http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/Ang...rsSquad1WIP.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/8795/picturepic6132sj6.jpg I particularly like the second one. If anyone could help me with this i would be particularly appreciative. I hope my brothers wont mind me borrowing their pics from the Wolf Painting, Converting section of the forum. Grey Mage
I believe the first one to just be ordinairy codex gray and the second to be a 75/25 mix of fortress gray and space wolves grey... youll note it has the slightly blue sheen to it. TAVAAR
Personally I do not like "baby blue" on my wolves...or any of my armies for that matter. What I did (note that I like darker color schemes, not sure about you) is I primed a Matt black first, BBQ Rustoleum has worked wonders so far just don't let it get wet while drying. Then I took Adeptus Battle Grey foundation and dry brushed the whole model. Washed with Badab Black, let dry, did some trim and detail work and was quite surprised at how good they turned out, especially when considering how much time (or actually how little time) it took me. Now they are no where near 'EAVY METAL but I am a gamer not a painter, but they are table top fieldable and when I'm done with highlights and a few more details they should be display case worthy. If you don't want them that dark then mix a LITTLE chaos black with Codex Grey to darken it up and I would still recommend a badab wash after some highlights and details.
