Doghouse
Cheers guys! :) Ferrus Manus: Yeah you could say that. ^_^ I don't get the chance to play Apoc games but bought the Baneblade on a whim. This way I get to field a super heavy sized tank in regular forty kay games and justify it by the all round 14 AV. paulson games: Yeah that should work. I think you'd have to watch for is making it too wide, as a rule an engineer mate of mine told me that the width of a tank shouldn't be more than half the length of the tracks. Might be worth just lengthing the hull to bring the assault ramp to the fore. I only set mine so far back because it gives it a very aggressive profile and in reality the tracks would give protection from incoming fire from the sides. This is mainly because the the engine block is directly in line with the ramp when it's open so by setting the hull back it's less exposed. Predator turret might be a little big, I'd go with a modification of the way I've placed the stormbolter on the Vindicator I'll be posting in a minute. Doghouse
Here's a simple solution for the side doors. It's nothing too flash because I really need to get this thing finished and start painting it: http://i39.tinypic.com/33dic7a.jpg I've also started adding the gothic detailing while I'm cleaning up the hull. I'm keeping the tracks fairly bare with all the gothic stuff on the land raider hull. http://i42.tinypic.com/3445jiw.jpg Here's the Vindicator I've started work on. I was going to big it up but don't want to spend too much time on the vehicles as I've still got at least another tactical squad to finish yet. I'm giving it an older look with the addition of the turret mounted stormbolter and the exhaust on the roof. I'll be removing the original rhino exhausts and gothing it up like it's bigger brother. http://i44.tinypic.com/2v0mhw9.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/1ny9sg.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/2/#findComment-1905821 Share on other sites
Bigdog
Just out of curiosity Doghouse, how does your monstrous land raider compare size-wise with your true-scale marines? Does it work out about the same proportions as the normal marines and normal land raider? Doghouse
Big Dog: I'll post a picture in a bit but scale-wise it'd need to be one and a half centimetres higher and about four centimetres shorter. Race Bannon: My gaming group went kaput a long while back. They were tragically squashed by my true scale Emperor Titan... Doghouse
Here you go... http://i42.tinypic.com/v4sajm.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/6tdzdw.jpg It's technically a tad too short and a little too long to be accurately classed as a true scale raider but it's pretty darn close. Montuhotep
Such a simple idea for the Vindi and yet so fitting - enough so that I'd never have thought of it.... paulson games
The vindcator turret looks good, simple but effective mod. I do like the agressive look with the hull set back, reminds me of an oversized version of the jumper/batmobile from the batman begins and dark knight. I'm just thinking about practicality for deployment since most of the local guys I play are usually a bunch of rules lawyer asshats about details. It'll be bad enough to squeeze in a custom build like this let alone if some small point "violates" the rules, I swear they get off on being jerks so much they don't care if they are actually having fun by playing. Anyways it looks great and when I get caught up with my army I will be giving one of these a try. The Vindacator also looks a lot more agressive and mean due to the turret. Doghouse
Cheers guys! :) Just to prove that I am intent on getting this army donw I've begun basecoating the beast. http://i41.tinypic.com/1zmgg88.jpg She's still looking a little rough at the moment though. I've drybrushed the hull with Mecharite Red to build up a base for the basecoat. i then went over this with a wet brush of Scab Red and am now in the prrocess of given it several coats of watered down Scab Red to build up the colour a bit more and smooth it out. Once the basecoat is complete I'll be going over this with Devlan Mud wash and then going over this with Red Gore. For highlights it'll be a mix of Red Gore/Fiery Orange then I'll begin adding markings before weathering. The_Chaplain
*does his best ork impression* waid a minnut, sometin's off here... I only countz 6 launcha bits on da front o' dat tank. That's one launcha.... wot kinda sneaky gubbins is you plannin wid da otha launcha doghouse? Sorry, been working on an ork narrative today, that manner of speaking really sticks with you :D Seriously though, the tank looks good, but with only 1 launcher, my curiosity has been piqued as to what your going to do with the other. (If it's an iron clad you're hiding, your nefarious plot has been foiled) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/2/#findComment-1908923 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Thanks mate! :) Yeah your eyes aren't decieving you, there is only one set of assault launchers on this tank. I was going to fit them both but figured that the other set would come in handy if I make an Ironclad Dreadnaught to go with the army. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/2/#findComment-1909511 Share on other sites
Rindaris
You know that Baneraider is damn cool. Pulse
Just to prove that I am intent on getting this army donw I've begun basecoating the beast. Hahahahahahaha.... hahah... ha. Inquisitor =D=
Leave it to Doghouse to design a raider that would seriously scare me. Think I'll make one for my Iron Warriors army I haven't started yet. Doghouse
Thanks guys! :P Rindaris: Well they pretty easy to make actually, this one was a bit over complicated because it was a rough attempt but I've got some really cool ideas for a second. The beauty of it is that it easier to make something more personal with this than the stock model. Pulse:  I'm gonna make you eat your words mate just you wait! :) Inquisitor =D=: This would be seriously cool for Iron Warriors, I say go for it mate! HuronBH : Thanks mate, this has been a bit of a botch job but I've learned loads from it...wait till you see the next one. ;) Bit of an update. I'm going over the hull with Red Gore and gradually building up a strong basecoat. I've repositioned the pintle Multi-melta mainly to avoid any further complications with the rules. I prefered the off to one side look but it may cause confusion because of the fire arc rules for pintle weapons. I've also started working out what will go where and begun to map out the colours for the details and other bits. Still looking a bit pinkish at the moment though but that's due to my crumby camera and lighting. I can't wait to get started on the weathering for this beast now. http://i43.tinypic.com/2w382g3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/2/#findComment-1910090 Share on other sites
BrotherDamascus
Not only a sweet tank - but Doghouse is paining it!? what did i miss :P a seriously awesome Machine - it looks really flush and unique, but still fits in with the Imperial feel -and i gotta say its damn gorgeous... looks like a seige engine of doom :) as always you've been consistant in producing kick-ass work, but this takes the cookie - its why you're one of my favourite modellers enjoy finishing it, cant wait to see the next insane project  <<Damascus>> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/2/#findComment-1910097 Share on other sites
Hubernator
PIIIIINK!! ITS PINK!! Who let the girls paint it again?! ;) No seriously, that is one cool tank. Clever model indeed. Doghouse
Thanks guys! BrotherDamascus: Thanks mate, I appreciate the compliment. ;) As for the next project? Well I'm soley focused on these guys (for now...) but they do not have a datasheet out for the Imperator titan... Hubernator: Yeah it does look a bit pink, maybe I should paint it up as the hello kitty chapter? <_< Don't worry though I'm working on the colour issue with my camera and should be able to get some true colour shots up soon. Aqatone: If I were doing a true super heavy then I totally agree with you there but as I'm proxying a Crusader I'm stuck with the weapons it comes with. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/2/#findComment-1912599 Share on other sites
