...ive been runnin ideas right now...thinkin a preheresy style raider would look awesome .... twin LC's with the slope armored sponsons and teh HBs from teh bane would bring this 1 up a tad bit me thinks:)...thats just me though...finally fot my bases in from australia..now just waitin for my buddy to quit paintin other folks stuff so he can GS the legs for me....heck, if i have to wait to much longer I may even have to sculpt them myself;)

Cheers guys! :)

lionofjudah: Nice one! It's a pretty easy build but if you need any advice feel free to PM me mate. ;)

Erik Crowbreath: All the spare bits are going towards a massive pre-heresy style Glaive that I'm building for the army so I can use it in apoc sized games and other little bits are being used on vehicle conversions in the army to give it a uniform feel.

Pig Of Sparta: If only my funds were bottomless but I'm on a budget just like everyone else... :)

Menathorn: Well it's looking good at the moment. I should have finished the Landraider by the weekend, got the Vindicator built and painted a tac squad. Once I've got the second squad and the captain finished I'll post shots of the troops as I've figured out that once I post shots of something I struggle to get the others finished.

Great!

I am using the AoBR myself for some minis. What you did to the Commander seems like an easy and quick way of getting something different out of them.

If you will be using the Wolf Rules remember that they have True Grit, some chainbayonets maybe? :P Think Gears of War:D

Yeah the AoBR is really easy to convert and you can mix and match parts from the regular plastics which is great. Chainblades sound like a really cool idea, I've been knocking some ideas about for a proper army theme now and the beauty of the SW codex is that you can have your force led by a venerable dreadnaught which might make for an interesting conversion project.

Update

Well, it's getting there. She still needs a lot of work but should have this finished by the end of the weekend with any luck.

*sighs* can you buy baneblade track units separately? That's one of the most awesome looking land raider crusader conversion.

Doghouse, I bow to you in honour and respect.

I believe thewarstore.com is going to be the best option for this, as much as I prefer buying from other sources. But yes, if you look up various bit sellers you can find some that do offer Baneblades in bits. Depending on how much my move ends up costing me I might be hitting up warstore soon myself for this project. I just managed to get the majority of the Land Raider bits needed for about $10.

Pig Of Sparta: If only my funds were bottomless but I'm on a budget just like everyone else... :D

I wish I had a budget like yours then. I have a Baneblade, and a very very old Land Raider (bought the year it was released, whenever that was I can't remember now) and while I don't mind hacking up the Land Raider, I'm still not quite sure about the Baneblade.... but I might just give this a go, if that'd be cool with you. It'd be cool to have a Canis Domus pattern Land Raider :D

JAmes

A quick question. Can you still have the front hatch work when the innards of the side panels from the Land Raider hull are stripped away? I'm growing more and more tempted to tear the tracks off my Baneblade and give this a go...

Thanks guys!

FerrumIgnatus: Like Rhindaris pointed out the warstore is probably the best place to shop for bits like the track sections. I personally use Bitzbox.uk for my parts but both sites depend on what is available at the time.

Pig Of Sparta: Yeah it should be possible to have the assault ramp be able to still move with a little work. You'd probably have to cut a hole in the inner sides of the baneblade track sections to get the ramp mechanism to fit though. I didn't have time to do it for this one but the next one will definately have a moving assault ramp.

As for doing your own go for it mate, I usually spend a lot of time chatting with people through PMs here on the B&C about conversions and am always willing to let others use my ideas. :P

Thanks guys! :)

Hubernator: You're not going to let the pink thing go are you!

I will do my best to get some true colour shots up asap to dispell the myth that it's pink. ;)

Menathorn: Great...I'm going to be forever known as the truescale guy that uses pink space wolves... :)

Rough list at the moment before points totaling is:

HQ: Venerable Dreadnaught

HQ: Wolf Guard Battle Leader

Troops: 10 Grey Hunters x3

Heavy Support: Landraider Crusader, Vindicator.

I've got a few more ideas but I'm toying around with having a Chapter Master in a Dreadnaught to lead the force. The astartes of the War Dogs believe in the whole spartan style glorious death concept. The only thing better in their minds is to be placed in a dreadnaught and die all over again fighting the enemies of the Emperor.

Hubernator: You're not going to let the pink thing go are you! <_<

I shall not let it rest until it doesn't look pink :P Such a good vehicle should not look pink - that's sacrilage of the highest order ;) Plus I detest pink so :P

Thanks guys! :)

Menathorn: Great...I'm going to be forever known as the truescale guy that uses pink space wolves... :tu:

List looks good. What load-out would you have on the Hunters? And will you use any pods?

I'm not too sure so far as to what the weapons on the grey hunter squads will be just yet. I've played with space wolves since day one of 40k (they were my first chapter back before they went all viking) and in third edition which was the last time I used them I ran all bolter squads so I may do that again.

I'll probably run just foot sloggers this time around and bulk out one squad by adding a wolf guard and wolf guard battle leader with four fenrisian wolves for a sixteen model unit.

Scouts will probably make an appearence as I've been looking over the codex again and a six man squad of these with two melta guns lead by a wolf guard can make a serious mess of anyones day.

I've got some really simple but effective conversions coming up that gives them a gothic norse look and is dead simple to do so I'll be posting more pictures soon.

I'd like drop pods but not sure just yet but may opt for a unit of Long Fangs or a second Landraider instead.

I'll post the proper list later today if I get the chance. :)

Thanks guys! ^_^

I've been doing a little bit of converting to try and establish a theme for the infantry of the army. I'm going for a slightly nordic look but don't want to go as extreme as the space wolves as these guys are a little more disciplined than the sons of fenris and will largely look a regular codex Chapter.

First up is the begining of the wolf scout squad. These are a pretty simple but effective conversion made from some old sniper scouts and bits from the WFB Marauder Horsemen kit.

These are shown prior to GS work to clean up the joins and maybe some detailing. There will be four in total and they'll be armed with two plasma pistols, a plasma gun and melta bombs and lead by a Wolf guard.

Here's a AoBR conversion using one of the Marauder Horsemen heads to give the unit a little character and to try and work in the nordic theme without going over the top with horns and pelts.

Lastly there is the Wolf Guard and Wolf Guard Battle Leader. To be honest I think the Marauder heads are a little on the big size but am willing to over look that in order to achieve the theme I'm after.

The army list as it stands is:

HQ: Venerable Dreadnaught with twin Lascannon, DCCW and Heavy Flamer.

HQ: Wolf Guard Battle Leader with Frost Fang and Bolter

Elite: Wolf Guard Leader x 4 with bolter and close combat weapon

Elite: Wolf Scouts with Plasma gun, plams pistol x2 and melta bombs

Troops: Grey Hunters x3 ten men each

Landraider Crusader: Extra Armour and Melta

Vindicator: Extra Armour, Stormbolter, Siege Shield.

Total: 1315pts

This leaves me 145pts for adding options to units and characters.
