The Angelus Sanctus
Your LRC Conversion is fantastic Doghouse, you have finally put together a tank that looks like a true depiction of a LRC. :tu: Very nice use of the Maurader Horsemen heads (i think this will be the next WFB box i pick up). Heads look great on the marines, although for the scouts, maybe you could sink them into the torso a tad bit more? They look large on the Scout bodies, but as mentioned for the Marines, they look fine. Keep up the great work :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1918199 Share on other sites
Lestat
That is one mean looking Land Raider. Who says the Marines don't get the best toys :tu: Where did you get the BIG sword from thats sitting on top of the hull? That would look good on an =][= scale model. Menathorn
Good work D. I need to get those heads;) On the list. Boost the WS to six men and give them some PW's too. When they OBEL they'll get a lot of killing done with that. Maybe bost the WGBL to a WL? Only 15pts. If nothing of the above, get some pods ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1918413 Share on other sites

Doghouse
Thanks guys! :) lionofjudah: Baneblade hull and Landraider tracks, sounds interesting mate and that's a nice idea with the helmets as well. Menathorn: Sounds good to me mate, I'll have to see if I can dig out some more scout torsos and increase the squad size then. I think you might be right about upgrading to WL as well now I think about it as it's not a lot more points wise. I've been toying around with some Long Fang models to give me more selections, I'll post some shots asap. Lestat: I cut it from the Cities of Death wall panel that has two monks holding the sword between them so it's one sided. It'd probably take some work but coul be altered for an Inquisitor scale model but you'd probably need to add the other side of the sword. Doghouse
Here's a quick update on the fangs and the captain. I'm not too happy with the eyes but will go back and tidy them up as they seem a little too large at the moment. I've also added eye brows to the model mainly because for some reason no-one ever includes them. I've decided to abandon the red colour scheme because it's a major chore and isn't going as planned. I started to paint the basecoat on this guy but really enjoyed the gold so am going to paint them all gold except of the shoulder pad inserts that will remain red. This does mean redoing the raider but the first tactical squad went wrong with the dullcote and I'm stripping them and starting over anyway. http://i39.tinypic.com/2j3rxbb.jpg I've also put together the Long Fangs but need to fill the gaps in the launchers. http://i41.tinypic.com/2ros02s.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/i4233o.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1923399 Share on other sites
cathar the great
Looking forward to the new color scheme. I'm not sure about the helmetless head on that Rocket marine. I guess you wanted him to look like he was screaming as he fired, but it looks more like a ":cuss what am I doing?!oneone" - face... ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1923423 Share on other sites
Menathorn
I think you have done a good job with the Long Fangs. Let's hope they are worth it as well. On the colours, I wouldn't be sure on all gold, the wolfs should be rather dull and dirty. Will you do them in dirty gold? <_< For that might work! Also, I don't know if you have played Rome Total War or read Shakespeare but if I remember correctly he wrote "Cry Havoc, and let slip the Dogs of War!". I would find it rather fitting if you use that when you write some fluff about them. Heretic07
First off, awesome tank! I do a lot of minor conversions to my SM tanks too. And the fact that you paint your own icon is cool. The one little problem I do have is our armies have the same name. I'll tell you right now if you tell the Imperium, they'll send the Inquisition after me again. (I made a pact with the Tau to spare the lives of my horribly outnumbered men.) I'm not asking you to change your name since you've clearly settled on it (what with the custom icon) I just thought you should know to avoid any confusion when the Inquisitor shows up at your door screaming "BURN HERETIC!" Just tell him he wants the guys in black armour who spell it 'Wardogs' Really great land behemoth thing there. Doghouse
Thanks guys! ;) cathar the great: It's more of a looking up as they prepare to fire sort of pose. Kind of like a huge stompa has just turned the corner of a building or he's spotted incoming flyers. In actual fact though it's more of a only way I could make it fit pose. ;) Menathorn: It'll definately be a dirty gold as like you say they should look beat up and grotty. What I might do with the quote you gave is translate it into Imperial Gothic (made up latin that sounds good) and paint it on the side of a vehicle. I guess I could go with a greek/norse theme. I've always wondered why planets that marines are recruited from seem to be the same culture all over when we on earth have had a lot more diversity. tagsta: Yup High Marshal Pallantides hit the nail on the head, it's a Marauder horseman head with the mohawk removed. He kinda looks like arnie in person. Heretic07: Don't worry about it mate, it happens all the time in gaming circles and my chapter is no more official than another other diy chapter. I promise I won't tell the Imperium if you don't. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1924446 Share on other sites

If you are taking them from a primitive society or something like today I would suggest not mixing them. By human nature we are abit anti what we don't know. I think that would cause more problems than it is worth. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1924499 Share on other sites

That way you still have the norse kind of 'madness', but get to steer away from being a SW copy. Doghouse
Menathorn: I'm now thinking that have the chapter homeworld was destroyed and the norse/celts are the new guys so you've got a conflict of cultures within the chapter. The old guard being more disciplined but slightly divulgent from the norm, hence the more codex look of the chapter, with the new guys being a bit more rough around the edges. Bjornas: Definately, it also would be a good excuse to adorn the models with skulls and maybe add some woad. lionofjudah: Sounds good mate, look forward to seeing it. Update: WIP Captain. These aren't the greatest pictures (I have to get a decent camera at some point...) but as You can see I now have the basis of a colour scheme I'm happy with. It's basically a gold torso with bolt gun metal everywhere else and white shoulder pads. The subtle shading really doesn't show here but it gives you some idea of the direct I want to go with these guys, mainly because it's so easy and quick compared to the red I was using. Basically I've given him a bolt gun base colour then gone straight over this with badab black wash. I've then used a watered down black to shade the under side areas to create shadow which doesn't really show up here. For the white I used space wolves grey for the base coat and then mixed in white before highlighting with pure white. Looks really nice in person, no so much on camera, I'll play around with the pictures and see if I can address the problem using some new software I have. http://i43.tinypic.com/2dllrnt.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/vhb03m.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1926291 Share on other sites

Doghouse
Nice one, looking forward to seeing him mate! :P Tanks are pretty much the same for the moment other than having to repaint the landraider that is. I've been playing around with the camera settings and now have this shot which is nearer to the true colour than the last shots. These guys will hopefully be fairly dark and gritty, for some reason he reminds me of a black templar at the moment. http://i39.tinypic.com/153afza.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1926375 Share on other sites

Doghouse
wokkers: Thanks mate! ;) lionofjudah: Looks brilliant mate! :D I look forward to seeing it finished. Quick update He's starting to come together now and I've just begun the basing. I've painted it snakebite leather and inked with brown ink. Once this is dry I'll begin drybrushing. hendrik
nice work doghouse, kinda reminds me your clumsy marines, forgot how they were called, but loved them none the less. about your landraider, i like what you did, but can you place a complete squad within 2" of the assault ramp?gamewise that is keep on working, and i hope you won't get distracted too much so you can finally finish this army ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161260-war-dogs/page/4/#findComment-1927416 Share on other sites
