Chaos Bikes, shooting and assault

Can a chaos biker claim pistol bonus attack if he shoot TLBolter instead of pistol?

Example: A chaos bike move 12, rapid fire TLBolter and assault

i. 2 Attacks : base 1 + charging

or

ii. 3 Attacks : base 1 + pistol + charging

Which one is true. Which page in the BGB mention about this?

Thanks.

Chaos Bikers standard: 1 attack base, +1 for pistol+ccw, +1 for charging = 3 x S4 attacks on the charge

Chaos Bikers with special weapon: 1 attack base, +1 for charging, special weapon replaces ccw so no pistol+ccw bonus = 2 x S4 attacks on the charge

Biker Champion:

- 2 attacks base, +1 for pistol+ccw (or power weapon if you buy that upgrade), +1 for charging = 4 x S4 attacks on the charge (which ignore armour saves if you bought a power weapon)

or

- 2 attacks base, +1 for charging, has powerfist so can't claim pistol+ccw bonus = 3 x S8 attacks on the charge at I1 (ignoring armour saves)

Raptors standard: 1 attack base, +1 for pistol+ccw, +1 for charging = 3 x S4 attacks on the charge

Raptors with special weapon: +1 attack base, +1 for pistol+ccw (the special weapon is additional, it doesn't replace their ccw or pistol), +1 for charging = 3 x 4 attacks on the charge

Raptor Champion:

- 2 attacks base, +1 for pistol+ccw (or power weapon if you buy that upgrade), +1 for charging = 4 x S4 attacks on the charge (which ignore armour saves if you bought a power weapon, or if you replaced both pistol and ccw with lighting claws you get same number of attacks and re-rolls to wound)

or

- 2 attacks base, +1 for charging, has powerfist so can't claim pistol+ccw bonus = 3 x S8 attacks on the charge at I1 (ignoring armour saves)

So overall, Raptors are better for charging things, although Bikers can always fire their plasma guns and charge after doing so (Raptors can only fire if stationary or rapid-fire within 12", and can't assault after shooting).

So.. you do receive bonus attacks from pistol regardless of what shooty weapon you use during the shooting phase eh. Alright.

Means that, my biker boy can Rapid Fire in the shooting phase, then take out his pistol and charge for additional attacks

And my Raptors. Shoot meltagun, take out pistol and charge :D

alright.. thanks.

Oh, I thought the Special Weapon replaced the Pistol...

I thought so too, but no. Always carefully read your codex, is the moral of the story :D

It works like this;

Shooting phase: You can have as many different guns as you want, but you can only fire one (two if you are an Attack Bike). Monstrous Creatures can fire two weapons at once. Most things however can only fire one gun.

Close-combat: If you are carrying a pistol and a ccw, you get the +1A bonus. If you have two ccw's you can claim the bonus Attack. Likewise, if you have a special close-combat weapon (that isn't a lightning claw, powerfist or thunderhammer) and a either a pistol or ccw, you can claim the +1A bonus. If you have two special close-combat weapons, you have to choose to use one and you don't get the +1A bonus (although you can still get the charge bonus like normal).

Have a read of the Assault section of the BRB, it explains all of this in plenty of detail.

One last combination is if you have two of the same special close-combat weapons than you get the +1A bonus.
