legion of the damned

I was just wondering why you dont see many people with lists that include Legion of the damned? They seem pretty solid, about 3 points a model, can have 2 special weapons in a squad of 5, have relentless so they can fire them and move/assault, and they have a 3+ inv save and are fearless.

Seems odd that no one has picked up on them.

no matter how you cut it they die just as fast as normal marines to convetional weapons, and enemy can just aim the AP weapons at other targets. They lack the killing power to justify their 30 pts a model. It's like having a flashy tactical squad.
I just play against a guy this past weekend who had an entire Legion of the Damned theme to his army. He started with his HQ and a command squad on the board as if they were the only people left from their force. After I approached and killed off a veteran or two he started bringing in the legion. They fought really well and the game ended at a draw, either of us taking the others objective. They are expensive but they are not as powerful as Cult Troops and couldn't stand toe to toe with my PMs.

The main draw I see for them is that they are meaner than a tac marine considering they get 10Ld, two attacks standard, 3+ inv. save, and have heavy/special weapons no matter what the squad size. Pair that up with Deep strike, and you possibly got a dead Land Raider(if using MM), or dead MEQ squad(if Plasma cannon and large #of Lotd) when ever they make their apperance on the board(granting favoritable drift rolls).

They may not stand up to PM's but they do better than regular tac marines. You can say the same about Khorne bezerkers, 1k sons, etc.
