Relics and battle gear of the wolf

played and finished dawn of war 2 and during the single player part of the game relics of the space wolves dropped axes suits of armor etc. Having read all the space wolf books in the past week i am considering adding some wolf flavour to my blood ravens as i think the blood ravens deep seated longing for truth and answers to there own chapter and search for there own relics would force them to hand over whatever they found of another chapters to them as soon as there crusade ends.

What weapons / gift / symbol would the space wolf hand over as a reward/sign of friendship or brotherhood/thanks after receiving a load of armor, weapons and relics from an unexpected chapter?

im thinking a necklace of wolf teeth, wolf hide, rune axe or frost blade something along thoose lines modelled among a few of my blood ravens to show the bonds of fellow ship they have with other astares (also thinking of adding something from salamanders and ultramarines)

or would the space wolves give them nothing at all?

We are the friendliest and one of the fiercestly honorable chapters in the imperium. We would honor our cousins returing our relics.

You would definitely get a LOT of Fenrisian Ale for starters,

Definitely Wolf Pelts, Wolf Teeth, Wolf Tails...

And for really great deeds/relics - frost blades I would imagine.

i could also see some custom made weapons, nothing overly special, but very wolfy, like thunderhammers, power swords, etc. or maybe some armor, depending on what the relics and such were, all this in addition to pelts and ale and such

Now I really like the Blood Ravens, and am in the processing of converting my Ultra's over to them (since I hit such a huge load of Grey Hunters, didn't really need to turn them into Wolves), but it'd take a lot. These are two VEEEERRRRRYYYYY different legions.

That said, if they did impress a Wolf Lord (which they could), I'd say Pelts, Weapons, things like that. Maybe on your chaplain toss a wolf skull helmet, or your Captain with a conversion from Grimnar's axe. Don't call it The Axe of Morkai, since the Old Wolf wouldn't part with it, but still, it'd look good. For generalities, just snag a Grey Hunter box. You'll find some sweet stuff in there for conversions, Space Wolf Powerfists, some bits, odds and ends, great weapons, talismans, wolf backpacks, wolf pelts, you get the point.

What's the point of rewarding the return of Weapons and Armor by giving out... weapons and armor? Seems a little counter-productive.

Trinkets as signs of friendship are more likely, iron runic charms, wolf tail talismans, wolf teeth, wolf skulls, gold rings etc. That sort of thing.

I don't see actual Power Armor, Bolters or Power Weapons being gifted back. Metal weapons like daggers and things that are mostly just ceremonial doodads are more likely I'd imagine, specially crafted by the Iron Priests and significant symbols of trust and friendship but not valuable equipment that no Space Marine Chapter can really afford to just give away.

NO PELTS.

I understand... we have furs all over our men but doesnt anyone remember where those came from? Those are personal tokens from their trials... and wolf pelts have to be earned with your bare hands. Its incredibly unlikely, astronomically so, that a wolf lord would ever give someone a wolf pelt.

That being said I think more theyd give them is IOU's. If the bloodravens ever needed a hand a strike cruisers worth of wolves would show up to help out. Perhaps some CC training *it is a specialty* and allowing the Blood Raven ships to dock at the fang for refits and repairs. It would be very odd for a chapter to show up, hand over relics, and then be given back relics... it would seem to defeat the purpose.

On that note however the fang has been around since before the heresy.... and Im sure that the runepriests arent the only record keepers there. The bloodravens would probly be given copies of some older records, maybe a few interveiws with the venerable brethren. Such things are after all beyond price... and while they must be earned they also cost little to give.

Model-wise... give them more chainswords, and perhaps a huge two handed frost-axe for your HQ. Im not against you modeling the army with SW relics... just the above is from a fluff point of veiw. You might also try chainsword bayonets, I recall a few pictures of space wolves with that...

I have to agree with Mage. NO PELTS. Maybe they would allow them to join a hunt and earn a pelt, but never just "give" a pelt. I see more wolf tooth neclaces and runic charms being given than anything else. It would be a way to show that a service had been rendered and honor debts were bestowed. The "gift" could be sent to the wolves later as a reminder of the honor debt.

Just my opinion on it though.

Beter days,

So we cant give pelts or armour or weapons BUT we can give ALE so that what we would give, so model your marines with some tankards. Blood raven seek knoledge, well they will fing plenty of that when they have drank a few tankards of fenrisian ale. The universe will suddenly make sence to them

If they bring enough stuff, they might get a look in the treasure room under the fang and get to pick something, I'm sure there a things down there that would interest BloodRavens.

If they fought back to back a Frost axe for the lord could happen, but in just gifts, gold and charms, and when your lucky a look at our recipe for Fenrisian beer, something that cant even be found in the Black library

Its like being good at the dentists and going into the box! Ahhh man, I miss bein a kid sometimes.

Anyway, as a sign of fellowship, FEnrisian Beer would be sweet if you incorporated it. Y'know, make a small keg and attach it to your dred, says FEnris or something.
