Menathorn
Hail Brothers, I have been thinking of making two really cool minis. One is a MotW Wolf Guard, and the other is a Runepriest. Yet I need help with how I should kit them, both for looks and for combat. Don't think about the points, since they should never see combat unless you have 3000pts on the table. For the MotW Wolf Guard I thought of Lightning Claws, all the wolf stuff, frags. Something else? As for the Runepriest I haven't thought about it. Having an eagle would be rather cool, so he is probably in. Maybe a staff and the runepriest spec weapon? Please help me out brothers, and I shall share my vision for them! All praise Russ! Grey Mage
Well rune priests are far from my specialty, however I do know a bit about wulfen. IMHO theres two ways to run them: With Stormshields and without Stormshields. While theres nothing that says they cant shoot I find the idea of giving a Wulfen a gun a waste of his CC prowess. Maybe a combimelta so he can crack open transports for the juicy troops inside.... maybe. Thats why you have an army with him right? Setup 1) Twin Lightningclaws, mastercrafted? or not, Runic Charm, MOTW, Wolf Pelt, Wolf Tail, Frags. Runs a clean 65pts and has upwards of 8 attacks on the countercharge that re-roll to wound. Setup 2) Storm Shield, Mastercrafted Thunderhammer, Runic Charm, MOTW, Wolf Pelt, Wolf Tail- 79pts. Send this guy in at Greater daemons, Dreadnaught Phalanxs, and Carnifexes. Make sure the enemy has plenty of other things to shoot... because hell never get a better save than his own armor. SeanyPrawny
I personally run the Thunderhammer version and although I have only played one game with him so far, watching him run right up to a vindicator after shrugging off 2 shots from it and smacking it into oblivion was golden. GunnarRedsun
i usually run the first option. heck, i outfit the wolf lord of my 13th company in a very similar fashion. people get scared by him a lot, let me tell you. and i mean A LOT. hope this helps man, and good luck Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161764-how-should-i-kit-the-following/#findComment-1900813 Share on other sites
Menathorn
Well, I thought of the Wulfen with Hammer and shield, and wondered if that would be so fluffy to have, yet it is a build that probably would work well against most things. From a building perspectiv I was thinking of twin claws since that would be rather cool. No thoughts on a Runepriest? Would be nice to hear something about it. GunnarRedsun
with my rune priests, i run a power weapon (frost if i have the points), chooser, and runic staff. i do thats so hes good in combat, and can stop infilitraters (which always poke holes in my army for some reason. its not a tactic thing, its a dice thing. stupid dice). some people throw a storm shield on him, i don't though. i like ot keep them lower points. just me though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161764-how-should-i-kit-the-following/#findComment-1902333 Share on other sites
Menathorn
I am only ever going to use them in battles at 3000pts or higher. So points are no problem, I want to make a really cool mini of them. Does anyone else get the vision of a Wulfen, armed with Lightning Claws crouched atop a Stormlord that is plowing it's way into the enemy lines. Admist a blaze of Vulcan Shells, he howls and then hurls himself into the enemy... he might die, but his death would be glorious! Damnit, now I'm going to have to do that! Menathorn
I'll give you that :D I would like to make a Wulfen with claws on a base which has a slope built on it, the Wulfen stands on the top of the slope and howls out into the air. Lovely! But he would die so fast.... :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/161764-how-should-i-kit-the-following/#findComment-1902510 Share on other sites
Didacsoy
The new wolf guard model can get you there without even having to convert it: just give hin some nasty blue tatoos on the face and you are set!
