Cornishman
Of late my lists have been including a Chapter Master (namely Kantor), and thought it was about time he had some Honour Guard to accompany him. Granted Honour Guard are more than just a tad pricy and I doubt will be played with much at 1.5k... but I saw the DA vets and thought that the robed bodies would make an ideal starting point for some honour guard. One DA upgrade kit later I began gathering power weapons, converting some of them into relic blades and generally working out how to make 'em look cool. Naturally once I got started on them I figured that having a Chaplain about could be useful. Wanting to keep that valuabe £7.85 (or so) for the LRC fund I converted one out of a spare squadie. After the Chaplian I realised that I had a rather nifty relic blade that didn't find a home in the Honour Guard squad so made myself a new Master/Captain for it to go on out the the spare commander kit I've had sitting around for a year. Here are the results: Chapter Master http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0239CM.jpghttp://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0237cm.jpg Chaplian (Yes I know the Crozius isn't quite straight) http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0241Chap.jpghttp://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0242Chap.jpghttp://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0243Chap.jpg Chapter Champion http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0244CC.jpghttp://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0245CC.jpg Honour Guard: 1st 5 http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0246HG.jpg http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0248HG.jpg Heres one of the Honour guard on the far right as you can't really make out the halberd from the photos as the blade is edge on. http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0256HG.jpg 2nd 5 http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0250HG.jpg http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourGuard/IMG_0254HG.jpg Yes, I know Honour Guard don't get fists, I just liked the look, and the detail on the fist. I haven't entirely decided what to do about the DA iconography, though I'm thinking on keeping it as the Sword motif seems suitable for honour guard. Brother Iencub
The chapter master doesn't look ornate enough to be a chepter master. Could do with another head and something to bind him to the guard. I mean, they are all robed and he looks more like an assault marine with a big sword, shield and some ribbons. Also, tut on the two-handed sword would be appriciated, it look really great. That is prolly all i have to say until you get them painted :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162047-chapter-master-honour-guard-and-a-chaplain/#findComment-1906595 Share on other sites
Cornishman
good stuff but I really dig the chapter champion Thank you :) B) great 2 handed pose with the relic blade!get some paint on em!! Mithril Will be doing that shortly. As for the colourscheme to expect see my sternguard thread The chapter master doesn't look ornate enough to be a chepter master. Could do with another head and something to bind him to the guard. I mean, they are all robed and he looks more like an assault marine with a big sword, shield and some ribbons. I was thinking that to. Here's what I came up with: http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourPlusGreenStuff/IMG_0267CM.jpghttp://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourPlusGreenStuff/IMG_0261CM.jpghttp://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourPlusGreenStuff/IMG_0267CM.jpg Also finished re-building the bionic hands and the champion and chap http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourPlusGreenStuff/IMG_0271CCC.jpg http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh342/Cornishman/HonourPlusGreenStuff/IMG_0273CCC.jpg Also, tut on the two-handed sword would be appriciated, it look really great. That is prolly all i have to say until you get them painted ;) Tutourial... unfortunately it wasn't that simple (lots of fine tuning of fit), and making a decent tut (e.g. one with photos) would require the bits that are now all cut and trimmed etc.... But I'll try and give a a good talk through it. Arms 1. The arms come from the standard tactical squad sprue and are usually found holding bolters. 2. Use an unmatched pair of arms. Selected each arm so that reaches across the body as much as possible. 3. I found this wasn't quite enough so I trimmed away the arm slightly to get the arm across further 4. I cut away the inside of the left arm at the elbow and bent it (the resulting crack can just be seen on the photo) Hands 1. You will need hands that look like they are holding the hilt of the sword. I used the Bionic hand (and wrist) from the Commander box for the left hand, and the hand holding a grenade from the devastator box for the right hand. I chose the bionic hand as the ball joint made it easier to position the hand on the arm 2. Drill. Drill the hands along what will be the centre line of the hilt. This is important as it will make combining the sword/ hand assembly soo much easier, and ensure it is straight. 3. Make a long pin. The idea is that this will run the length of the hilt and deep into the blade. I used one of the many sewwing pins I had (be cared it is pointy). The rounded end (can be seen incorperated into the chaplians crozius) came in very handy in stopping everying falling off whilst checking sizes and fitting (see below). If you don't have one handy a blob of green stuff/ blue tac will do just as well 4. Put both hand on the pin, but make sure at least one of them (the top on) can move (but not too easily). Slide the hands along the pin until they meet the arms. If they don't fit well make some adjustments to the arms by filing the joints to bring the arms in, or move the arms further outs etc... until you get a pose/ fit you like I found it easier to pin (but not glue) the bottom hand to the arm during the fitting. Hilt 1. Once you have positioned the arms create the hilt so that the hands now form a rigid assembly. I did this by raiding the bits box, selecting a suitable weapon grip, drilling it, and then cutting it to size so that it fits. Glue the hands and hilt together to form a rigid assembly. You should now end up with 2 arms coming across the crest, and a sub assembly of 2 hands joined by the hilt. Sword. I used the company champion sword, but reversed the direction of the crossguard. Drill the blade down the centre line, and place on pin which sticks up through the top hand. Before painting I fitted the sword and hand assembly and used greenstuff to fill the gaps. To stop the greenstuff from sticking to the sword assembly I used water. I find this make life easier when it comes to painting. MEanBOb
Those are some ridiculously large weapons you got there. Almost cartoonish in size, but thats not a bad thing. To be honest, in comparison to the rest of the models, the chaplains crozarius looks like it could use some love, like making it larger to fit with your other over the top weapons.
