Dealing with Deffkoptas

Recommended Posts

My brother is an Ork player that loves using the BR deffkoptas. I like to field alot of tanks, but the deffkoptas seem to destroy them before they can be any use?

Any advice on how to deal with these units? Should i keep the tanks in reserve until i shoot them down?

Well Deffkopta's are nice but they are fairly expensive, 45points per with Rokkit Launcha's and though they're 2 wounds they are a LOT easier to bring down than Nob Bikers and so forth, Missile Launchers with Krak Rockets are the best for taking them out I think. Or lascannons if you really want too.

Id reccommend if your a tread-head using a Predator Annihilators with heavy bolters. I find one of them will kill a two to three man squad of koptas a turn without needing much in the way of luck. Another option Ive found is whirlwinds, wich are frankly quite useful against the rest of the army. Lastly, a well placed unit of attack bikes will usually do the trick, and are a bit cheaper than the koptas.

If hes fielding the black reach ones he probly has three of them eh? So hit him with an assault cannon from a vendread and a dakka predator. Or a volley from a landraider crusader if your nervous about using vehicles against him.

One thing that i've found is effective, and in my book a must when going at greenskins, is a unit of sniper scouts. Nothing fancy, just 4 sniper rifles and a heavy bolter, can usually down 1-2 of them a turn, and with the coptas only sporting a whopping 7 leadership, it's rather easy to get them pinned down and left with their butts in the wind. Not to mention, with rending SR's and AP 4 on the HB, it's nice and easy to take these buggers down, and your 100 point unit can easily earn it's points back against 45 pt coptas
