Scout Sniper
My little brother has just started 40k and wants to collect Chaos. Now I haven't played chaos or even written a chaos army list since 2nd/3rd edition (not sure...) so I have no idea how the new codex works, or any strategies (I used lots of plauge marines and plauge knives heh heh good times... ). So I need some help, what should he buy, army list ideas anything? keeping in mind he wants to collect them squad by squad rather than buying box sets, battleforces etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162097-first-chaos-list/ Share on other sites
Rubrics Cube
I would suggest getting the codex first,to see which army he would prefer to collect first, and the rules for which he would see as being best... That being said,he could merely take a long browse through said codex in an actual GW store,or buy a fourth edition codex of ebay at a low price, which is better fluff wise... Tell him I wish him the best of luck. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162097-first-chaos-list/#findComment-1904500 Share on other sites
chillin
have him read the "chaos lords handbook" and "asp. champions handbook" in the GRAVIS section of thios forum. (above all the topics). They will be very useful. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162097-first-chaos-list/#findComment-1904543 Share on other sites
Cornelias
best advice i can give you is focus on troop choices first, you want atleast 1 troop unit for every 500 pts in your army and we have the best choices (in my opinion) of any codex and remember, i know rhinos are expensive cash wise but mount everything you can. the more mobile your army is the greater chance it has of winning. HQ choice, pretty much anything with wings..... heavy support, i wouldn't bother too much with havocs, i'm not saying they are bad in any way but oblits, vindis and defilers all perform better. the rest can be filled in with termies or whatever you fancy, not including spawn or possessed they just suck even to someone as liberally minded as myself heh Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162097-first-chaos-list/#findComment-1904703 Share on other sites
the jeske
well depending on how many lists will you want to make with this army you will need . 4 rhinos , 6 oblits , 2 DPs , 2 power armor HQs , 8 terminators with combi weapons [and you use them 2x3 or 2x4 in bigger games] , around 50 marines [to do pms and csm , you could have most of those already] . everything else in the codex is not a must have , unlike the options I listed. Mutt-Man!
Like the art of war, you buy the book before writing your own. Codex first. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162097-first-chaos-list/#findComment-1905239 Share on other sites
