ArmouredWing
Ok, so I've got an entire weekend of 40K action ahead of me but I really want to try and do something different with my roster. Since the launch of 5th ed I've been doggedly fielding a SoB footslogging force, currently 4 large squads of sisters (2 melta squads, 2 flamer/hvy flamer squads), 3 exorcists and an HQ canoness + retinue in an immolator coming in at our standard game size of 1500pts. With this list I've had really, really good results, holding off and beating tournie class rosters on a regular basis BUT I'm in a mood for a change. Now, I'm convinced that footslogging sisters are the way forward but for the sake of keeping things fresh I want to run a full mech force for the weekend to compare the performance against my current list. This is where I'd like you folks out there to give me a helping hand. I know there's a dedicated bunch of tournie players out there and I'd like to put a mech SoB tournie list on the table that's got a proven record. The forces I'm likely to be facing are tournie nids, tau (will be competative, could be ninja, could be missle madness) and there's also a possibility of orks and CSM as well. These games are, ahem, 'friendlies' (regular bunch of mates but we play for keeps) but firmly based in fielding tournie class lists for a really tough game, so with that in mind I'd like to have 1 list to play them all. Thanks for the input in advance. Have at it folks. Eltnot
I run a mostly mech force at 1500 that's been doing well vs tourney lists. Jump Canoness (Usually accompanies the Seraphim, often splitting off just before HtH). 6 Celestians with 2x Meltaguns and Vss with Eviscerator in an Immolator (Close Range Tank Hunters and used in HtH to tie up nasty units with Inv saves) 10 Battle Sisters with Meltagun, H. Flamer and VSS in Rhino. 10 Battle Sisters with Meltagun, Flamer and VSS with power weapon in Rhino. Inducted Guard Platoon (Provide much needed firepower and are extremely difficult to remove off objectives that are in or near your deployment zone) Command - Missile Launcher and Grenade Launcher Squad - Missile Launcher and Grenade Launcher Squad - Missile Launcher and Grenade Launcher 6 Seraphim with 2x Hand Flamers, VSS with Eviscerator. Just one othere thing to factor in, I run only units that are in C:WH (just to throw a spenner in the works), preferably pure SoB but it has been known for a metalstorm =][= to show up my my lists. jeffersonian000
Well, I can best be described as an Immolator spamist. Here's what I like these days: HQ (200pts) Palatine w/ Book, Bolt Pistol + Retinue w/ 2x Meltsguns, Immolator w/ EA, Smoke, Light 3x Elite (159pts ea) 5x Celestians w/ 2x Meltaguns, Immolator w/ EA, Smoke, Light 2x Troop (209pts ea) Vet Superior w/ Book, Bolter, 9x Sisters w/ Hvy Flamer, Meltagun, Rhino w/ EA, Smoke 3x Heavy (135pts ea) Exorcist w/ nothing added 1500pts, 7 faith Note: I put Search Lights on the Immolators because I had 4pts to burn and I like synergy in my lists. SJ ...and it makes sense condsidering dawn of war deployment in 1/3 games. Thanks. I'm interested how you'd go about playing a list like that as you've only got the 2 scoring units in it. Is it a case of holding them back for the first couple of turns whilst the rest of the force goes about torching everything or do you just go for total elimination of the enemy FTW? jeffersonian000
I don't really see the need for more than two troop choices in a mech list. Everything contests, and you only need to hold one objective most of the time. The Immolators move 12" and flame every turn while the exorcists ping away at anything functionally immune to a heavy flamer. If AT is needed, the Immies slow to 6", and then fire and melt as needed. The Rhinos act as an intervention team, popping Sisters out to Divinely Guide wounds as needed, or just fire from the top-hatch. Its more of a "get in your face and stay their" sort of list. I have another build with a Jump Canoness and Seraphim; however, with TLOS and non-rapid fire bolt pistols, Seraphim became a bit less successful in 5th.
