GunnarRedsun
ok, so my Fallen have plague marines, and noise marines in them. but i don't want them to look chaosy. with the noise marines, it will be easier, as they have sonic weapons. but the plague marines, thats a little harder. i was thinking of battle damage on them, but i'm really not sure of what to do to represent the t5 and feel no pain outside of that, without going all nurgle. i do have mad greenstuff skills (i'm not just saying it, i've won some awards in the past), but i was just wondering what else i can do to make them more believable. i was maybe thinking something involving madness, as A ) nurgle is the lord of all diseases and afflictions, and ones of the mind are included, and B ) because i've used the crusader arms for the whole army (outside of hq). so yeah. i'm going to go look over the liber nurgle some more, but i'm coming up on nothing, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. cheers -me Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162351-non-chaos-chaos/ Share on other sites
Mutt-Man!
Iron warrior players use plague marine rules for their "Techno Virus" marines or "Bionic" marines. You could go with the bionic thing. Or rather, self repairing mecha-servo-marines. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162351-non-chaos-chaos/#findComment-1908091 Share on other sites
GunnarRedsun
@ mutt man!, the bionic idea is really good, and i had totally not thought of that. it would really help support the idea of using techmarines as obliderators. thanks alot for that man. do you by chance have any more? CelestialSon
I've always enjoyed the notion that Death Guard were always that tough. I've seen someone's army in which they painted pre heresy Death Guard, but they had all gas masked helmeted heads from Pig Iron Productions. There were some other things like plasticard armor plates bolted on and greenstuffed chainmail sashes. Of course, i can't locate it now for a pic. chillin
I left nurgle completely out of my BL "PM's". I used only the sholuderpads with the xtra neck/face plate, and I put on shields from WHFB chaos warriors, kinda my own version of the storm shield. As others have said some IW players use bionics to represent "PM's". I don't know if you can still get necromunda pit slave bits, but they make the best bionics (I have precious few). I have also heard of necron arms/legs being used. Someone awhile back (Nihm ?) suggested modifying the backpack in some way. If you have GS skills there should be several things you can do to represent PM's. - I also left the slanny out of my "NM's", just used reg csm's, double stacked bolter bodies and gave "bolter" 2 longish barrels using plastic rods. I didn't want sonics, just a rapidfire long range bolter. - good luck w it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162351-non-chaos-chaos/#findComment-1908866 Share on other sites
DOGGED
You could use chains wrapped around their torsos/legs/arms, it would keep with the crusader aesthetics and help give a visual volume to the mini. For example, 'zerkers chained torsos and legs make them appear more strong so why not using that to show better resistance? But if you have good green stuff skills I also suggest you work fur on the torsos and shoulders like the chaos warriors minis capes (I can't explain better, my english is not that good). It would give volume and a particular look without getting nurglish. Also Nurgle is god of health and life cycle, his followers usual appearance shouldn't be considered as mandatory. So bulky minis would represent their qualities. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162351-non-chaos-chaos/#findComment-1909489 Share on other sites
Vandael
Heya there, ATM I'm converting my BL into IW and so I'm still wondering what to do with my PM's. Currently I've got two squads of PM. 1st squad are converted CSM with a zombie headswap the 2d squad "boxed" PM. I was thinking in painting them in regular IW sceme with a couple of differences. - The shoulderpad showing the cult Icon stays green so my opponents can regonise them. - I'll paint the armour so that it will look more rusted than my regular marines. - Hanging intestines can be represented by bulking powercables. - The zombieheads are going to be (partly) metalic so it looks like they get a cyborg look over them. Althoug it's not 100% consistent with the fluff I think it's a shame not to be able to use the models that are at my disposel. And when I'm playing regular games I only use cult troops on occasion. It's not like I run my IW-list like a BL-list. Hope this helps.
