Dire need of more FA options

Recommended Posts

I'm in desperate need of some fast attack, currently all i have is 5 BCJP, and their a total point sink. I want to go either bikes or land speeders, but what has worked out best for you guys. I like to run my army with at least one tank, if that affects your opinion at all.

And unless it moves less than 6" it can only fire one. It can be taken out with a single shot... while at that price you can almost have two attack bikes, wich will take atleast two shots to take out. In 4rth ed it was a great tactic... now its almost like having a single heavy bolter, but more expensive and less survivable then before.
I am all about the attack bikes  got to love them but if anyone could tell me is there an easy way to mag them? i have some small magnets but not sure about where to connect it at the railing or the gunners hands.

The easiest way would be to magnetize the gunner at the hip. I had done that with my Land Speeder gunners so i replace the whole body. It´s easier then to prepare only the arms. It´s a bit tricky to get the arms with shoulder pads over the torso every time.

Hey now, Land Speeders have their place not having to roll difficult Terrian tests, being able to down grade stunned to shaken, popping over buildings and yes being able to take and shoot more weapons.

I am a huge AB fan and will always have at least 2 in my list. But I have had some nice success with 2 LS with 2 HB. The trick is to keep these babies on the edge/flank of the board out of sight and range of your enemy. make use of getting 4+ saves by just having the frong end stick out around a buiding. They are not tanks and can not take fire, play them smart and they will pay off.

If your budget is one over the other, AB are the best start. 3 2 w/ MM 1 with HB 140 ponits that won't let you down.

When running them on the board stay away from missles. I had a guy with 3 TML LS fire 6 missles at my 3 AB and well that was that for the ABs.

My SW army currently has no Fast Attack but I'm planning on adding a Land Speeder with a Heavy Bolter, cheap and mobile (and I have an old 3rd Ed DA Metal One laying about too) and a Blood Claw Assault Squad. I didn't think much of them but they were always a surprise when I did face them playing against Space Wolves, they were unexpected and their mobility made them dangerous for tying down units and causing distractions for their slower battle brothers to catch up.
If your going landspeeder I reccommend a single multimelta or a double melta... tank hunting in suprising places, jumping over trees and buildings, getting those sweet side or rear armor shots. If the target isnt lined up then your moving flat out to get whatever save you can, or hiding in such a fasion as to deny any enemy, even dark eldar, a shot at you.

Personally I like my LS with HB/HB and then hanging way back and making full use of superior range...

But yes, they are glass cannons :-/

I don't have any ABs yet, but I will be getting some to try out.

BC Bikers are a bit hit and miss, but generally the do rather well for me...

personally, i only use blood claw bikers. i find they work great when used right. what i usually do is have a unit or 2 of blood claws going up one flank, and deploy the bikers somewhere in the center. i move my line forward, run the blood claws on turn one, and turbo-boosst the bikers somewhere between their starting position and the other bloodclaws. from here, i again move forward, and use the bikers to take out devastators or tanks or whatever defending the flank while the blood claws hit the infantry, or i use them to soak up shots to keep the blood claws alive. it usually works well, as people don't usually respond well to bikers in their lines/deployment zone. but thats just me. i also am a huge fan of attack bikes, as the really mobile base for heavy weapons is AWESOME, and will often run 2 in support of the blood claw bikers, both with heavy bolters. i find the two togethor works really well.

I am mostly fighting the green tide when i play since my bro is an ork player. He doesn't really field any tanks, but he takes full advantage of DKs, other than that it's normally the green tide rushing me so i think the more shots i can get off the better if that helps.

Honestly i didn't even have ABs on my radar, but they seem like a pretty good option after review, especially since i can pair them with BCBs if i'm correct.

I think that when i add LS they will be tank hunters where the bikes will be brawlers and breakers

I have to say I got myself an Attack bike about a month ago and thus far he has eanred a spot in all my lists from now on. I every game he has popped a tank or some other nasty every time but the real money earner is when he rushes a weakly held objective in the final turn to deny it to the enemy.

To sum up they are Brill! Go and get one now!

I am all about the attack bikes :tu: got to love them but if anyone could tell me is there an easy way to mag them? i have some small magnets but not sure about where to connect it at the railing or the gunners hands.

I put mines at the hands, same as I did with Landspeeder gunners.

I like BC bikers for assault and Attack Bikes with multi-meltas for anti-tank. Make sure you have some rhinos or predator destructors to provide moving cover for your bikes.

actually the only tanks i got are the Vindicator and a Predator Annihilator with sshbs, but i think that would do the trick.

Damn, you think your getting close to finishing an army, then all these new ideas come along. I bet when i'm finished i have a whole Great Company.
