Corvus_Coorain
Hi all :) I was just wondering what you guys and gals think about my techmarine :P This is the paint scheme I'm going for on my techmarines. It's still wip as you can see, still got to paint the arms and of course the servo harness ;) plus figure out something to do with his base. Can I use the 40mm base on him, or do I have to use the 25mm? Oh, almost forgot.. Do any of you know if I can have a squad of terminators accompany him and his servitors? And have the same paint scheme to show that they're his guards? Like this: Cheers Corvus_Coorain ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162438-the-steel-dragons/ Share on other sites
Gafgarion
Hi there! My first impression is that I don't know where to look! You have a lot of colours in a lot of places, making it harder to find a central focus of the model. When we work in such a small scale (as on the miniatures) having a lot of colours is a bit overwhelming. There is nothing wrong with painting your techmarine entirely in your chapter's colours. Or even painting him entirely red with your chapter badge on his shoulder. Judging by the SM Painter pics, I'd say that you could probably stand to lose the gold. Or limit its use, seeing as you divide the rest of the armour up into sections with the green and metal. Judging by the model, I'd suggest to keep the colours more 'contained'. I kinda find the green parts on the red leg distracting. If you're dead set on keeping parts of your normal scheme, maybe limit it to just the chest and legs? If the head and arms are entirely red, I think It'll be a much more solid model. Uhhh, otherwise I'd suggest to thin your paints when you apply them, the red and metal look like they've been laid on a little thick. The same with the white on the purity seals. Don't be afraid to thin metals, I was for the longest time, but it really helps to preserve the detail of the model when you apply a couple of thin coats. So what is the story behind the Steel Dragons? Do they . . . . like steel? and dragons?? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162438-the-steel-dragons/#findComment-1909078 Share on other sites
Corvus_Coorain
Maybe you're right.. Now that you say it, the green kneepad and foot looks kinda out of place, I'll fiddle a bit with the painter and see where I land ;) Do you think I should lose the gold on the arms on techmarines perhaps? The story with the name is that the chapter has a weakness for silver dragons=p And since their parent chapter is the Salamanders, I figured I'd think up something with dragons. I thought about calling them "The Silver Dragons" but I found that "The Steel Dragons" was a stronger name for them ^^, I ain't that good at mixing and blending with paint :P Corvus_Coorain :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162438-the-steel-dragons/#findComment-1909143 Share on other sites
Corvus_Coorain
I'm done with the fiddle for now, and I think I found a new paint scheme for my techmarine. Let me know what you think Corvus_Coorain ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162438-the-steel-dragons/#findComment-1909225 Share on other sites
Warforger
change the gold on the helmet to red or just make the entire helmet (barring the eyes) gold and you'll be set.
