Phosis
Hey. I have a ten man Stern-dude squad that will be Deathwatch in a 3000 point Apoc game.. I took a heavy bolter and added a rotating cam like the M56 Smartgun in the Aliens movie that we all know and love. Considering that it's meant to be mobile, the "Deathwatch" team purchased a Heavy Flamer and will be using it's rules. Do you think the template would represent a short-range heavy bolter with an increased rate of fire? Thoughts on the 'count-as'? I will post pics soon, but you all know what deathwatch look like. Thankies Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162458-ordo-xenos-deathwatch/ Share on other sites
DevianID
The old suspensor rules obviously were perfect, as a 36 heavy or 18 assault weapon... plus you got the special ammo. For sternguard smartguns though, the heavy bolter is still a better fit fluff wise, but thanks to no special ammo or suspensor the rules suck--your better off with the regular bolter. Sadly, the smart gun was never a close range weapon, so using a heavy flamer doesnt mesh well, even though a heavy flamer compliments the sternguard squad pretty well.
