Greyshift
Couldn't find this when searching.... Im planning on adding a WG with MotW and twin lightning claws to my force (yep ive ordered the new mini) but which WG do i use - a leader for 30 pts or a bodyguard for 25? Grey Mage
Depends.... do you have the ability to take a bodygaurd with atleast one of your HQs? Does that characters bodygaurd have fewer than the maximum wolf gaurd in it? Then yes, you can take him as a BG for 25 IMHO. You dont have to, and the five points wont kill a person, but I usually do and no ones complained. Vash113
I always use the Pack Leader points cost just to be fair but then again a Wolf Guard with MotW is dead meat in 5th. Independant Characters can no longer avoid being targeted, they can always be singled out for shooting unless they join a squad. And since the MotW Wolf Guard can't join squads he's in essence a big points sink that can drop to shooting on Turn 1 or has to hide the whole time and hope to get into combat. Vash113
It's under the "Collectors" heading in the Space Marines section here: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...otCatGameStyle= Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162597-quick-motw-question/#findComment-1911412 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
For the very reasons you listed vash I feel its fair to take the cheaper of the two costs. No opponent will let him get to combat if he can avoid it at all and there is no way to get this guy into combat faster than a solo model in a drop pod... wich brings him to 100 pts atleast or in a landraider... wich is more costly. No bike, no TDA, nothin.l So what if he can have seven attacks on the charge? Wolf scouts are more effective point for point even with the five point optional discount, so I wont pay more for him than I have to. I agree, I've tried and tried but can't justify him, I even let him ride around in a razorback and left my grey hunters sit on an objective and still nothing... perhaps in the next codex they will make it worth it. Now it's more of a fluff thing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162597-quick-motw-question/#findComment-1913496 Share on other sites
