Bulgrim
Finally I manage to re-boot my pure GK rooster - much thanks to you guys! I'll be heading for two dreads and a LRC instead of usual two(or three) LR. A work in progress pic, I'm still troubled by the bases http://www.postimage.org/aV11Ptki.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162606-pure-gk-in-progress/ Share on other sites
killersquid
I'd say, the bases should be a diffrent colour then the marines armour to contrast it. Besides that they look really cool. How did you achieve the sweet armour colour? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/162606-pure-gk-in-progress/#findComment-1911471 Share on other sites
Bulgrim
Thanks. ;) I'm afraid it's basic drybrushing - scorched brown brushed with graveyard earth and rotting flesh, and then back to graveyard and rotting again to get that warm golden highlight. Yes, giving bases a contrasting colour would support the model. Should work fine, at least for tabletop. I started off with some ideas about withered leaves and high grass. I'm still searching for bases in faded colours - at least I'll try it out before I use contrasting colours(have used that too often...) Edit: drybrush layers... Grey Mage
They look like Statues... drybrushed heavily huh? Out of curiosity why gold colored? EDIT: Thats what I get for doing homework while looking at a forum. Bulgrim
Mostly 'cos all the grey, silver and other shiny variants was taken. ^_^ Aiming for that fluff-part about really old armour I ended up with this solution. Trying to keep them weathered 'n little dirty - saving the shiny, gold-like for icon details.
