FAQ: Using Magnets

Recommended Posts

looking for info on how to magnetize the wrist and the head of the space marine. I want the head to have a ball socket joint, so to move the head in any position. What size magnet to use? Can it be done? What else can be magnetized? How far has anyone taken magnetization of the space marine?

Also needing info for magnetizing space marine vehicles. Any info will help. I have searched all i could find, but would like to find some that are easy for a beginer to follow. Also listing supplies and where those supplies can be found/bought (links would help). The links that i have found have had me buying wrong size supplies, and i need to limit any cost mistakes.

Bah, sorry my friend.

It's not my tutorial, i wish i could stake a claim for it, however i do have his email address.... i fired him off an email concerning it, we'll see what we can do about that.

The website where I purchase my magnets still works however..... so at least i helped with one of the criteria, haha

Now i have a question for all my brothers, Would you only magnetize characters, sergeants, dreadnoughts, and vehicles or would you magnetize every model?

I am looking to magnetize the head, arms, backpack, wrists(?), and possible waist, but not sure. What do you do with your models to get the most out of them without spending a fortune?

just the characters and special models. From personal experience. I got a Rapid Insertion Force (9 Tau Crisis Suits) and magnetized everything..painting it all sucked.

You don't really need to magnetize anything except guys that hold special weapons (meltagun, plasmagun, etc), dreadnoughts, and vehicles. You could magnetize characters, but its also unnecessary. Unless you plan on changing his weapons every battle.

There's really not much sense in magnetizing your rank and file bolter marines, as you will never change their weaponry.

But 1 or 2 in a squad of 10 can be useful, if you don't want to have 15+ marines (every rarely used weapon once) for one squad.

I have just build two "magnetized" marines for my sword brethren with boltgun squad so you can change their boltgun to some special weapon (or even a combi-weapon on the rare occasions i field them as new C:SM sternguard veterans^^)...
