Army Pairing

Mutt-Man!

Alright we're doing a game within a week where we get to toss in two army lists at the limit of 1500 points per list. Two players, each with two lists versus. Many people where I play have multiple armies and we wanted a change of pace and combined tactics. One rule, two or more separate codexes MUST be used, one codex being the mainstay of each of the two armies the one player brings.

So far, we got several imperial guard and marine players, some specialist marine codex players allying with eachother or allowing certain forces to be played. There are tons of marine guys. We have a few Tyranid+Orks and one Necron+Nurgle fella (ouch!). Some work on synergy like having lysander with sisters of battle and a dude running chaos+loyalists as dark angels and fallen angels. Ironic!

So here is my dillema. I run lots of chaos, and making TWO lists with two different codexes means some things (powerful things) can be taken advantage of. Sure the typical 6 vindicator dual-list is possible. But I want to be more creative then that. I currently own:

Any kind of chaos army I want, literally.

Any tyranid army possible:

Any marine army possible:

Some necrons, Tau, Kroot(mercenary list style)

Far too many orks.

Started a daemon army, I think I can do most things.

Lost and the damned(IG, *sigh*)

I think I may run zilla lists with 3 defilers, 3 soul grinders, 2 daemon princes, 3 greater daemons(one CSM), lots of marines with icons and lots of power weapon or rending daemons. Or I might run buttloads of normal slugga boyz with some chaos ranged support in the form of defilers and land raider transported terminators.

I want a good combination, but all the ideas are pouring around its giving me a headache. So with broad minded forum go-ers I was hoping alternate perspectives could fill me in a bit.

Also, there is talk if this goes well that a limiter that three codex 1000 point lists with the limit of 1Elite/1Heavy/1Fast/2Troop and no HQ's may be used. Just if this goes well, there are unforseen powergaming dark corners in this and this is a test run of a regulated gaming type set as a standard. Any help to see some powergaming possible lists is also appreciated.

Help. =\

Hey,

two army lists at the limit of 1500 points per list

So, like a 3kpt Apocalypse match-up?

two or more separate codexes MUST be used, one codex being the mainstay of each of the two armies the one player brings

Not sure what you're saying, here. One Parent dex and one Allied dex?

I want a good combination

As an abject Chaos optimist, my first reaction is CSM and IG, just on general principle.

But, you've no doubt already thought of that. Plan B? Hmmm ...

Ork Parent with IG (Blood Axe Merc) Allies:

Stoic Imperial Armour Gunline + Grabasstic Ravening Psychohorde = good times.

Two codex 1500 lists basicly. One codex cant cover both armies. So a blood angel and dark angel pairing is ok, but two chaos space marine codex 1500's are not.

Some additional rules, like having Witch Hunters and Daemon Hunters as allies (additional codexes to the two standard) so its possible to use 4 codexes and even kroot allies in addition to any other parent rule allies to the lists.

Im going with chaos as the baseline, with their 'allies'. Since my chaos is my strong army side I was hoping on perhaps utilising a powerplay style. Using daemons would be fun and remind me of 3.5 codex.

Some of the other ideas are among having around 30 chaos spawns with a minimal list of marines and sorcerer with doombolt on the chaos side, while having a horde of orks running forward in mass choppa and powerklaw action. Two waves of destruction sounds cool. I am really divided... (3.5 I used to run a champion unit all with a spawn each)

I may run a space wolf-like list in addition, to get another 3.5 feel.

Although if I wanted to be really mean. I would run Grey Knights+Chaos Daemons - mostly consisting of Tzeentch Daemons(ranged/fast daemons). That is perhaps the most cruel one. Buddy has GK's I can use. They want a test run, and dont ban things until they see it first hand so... I will have a backup list if I decide to use that combination.

DG LR Rush build + demons light on troops but with max demon princes and epi . It kills .

Or a BL Lash zerker assault list with a sm army with master of the forge and max number of iron clads in drop pods , for max drop pod assault .

both or more or less balance at 1500 pts , but when you play 1750 pts its pure hardcore.

Death Guard+Epidemus! Why didn't I think of that dangit. That will probably be my backup list to the cheap-ish list.

Again to ponder, large units of raptors with icon of nurgle and epidemus. He would arrive first wave if rolling goes well and a second turn assault with 60 models would be an awesome sight, with the plagues teleporting in from the icons and bashing. Maybe I should do my nurgle bikes and do the typical daemonbomb?
