Inquisition Chimera armored car

I've never liked the present Chimera model much. It just didn't look like the vehicle it was supposed to be, but I wanted a Chimera to support my IST/Arbites. I found a couple of armored car conversions on the net and one was actually really well done. However, it looked too WWII-ish to me. Wargames Workshop has a nice resin APC, but it isn't a Chimera, so that was out. So I let the idea churn in my head for months until I got the nerve to give kitbashing a go. It took quite a lot of thinking and searching to find just the right kit for the chassis and wheels. I settled on Tamiya's 1/35th scale JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle. All the dimensions seemed to line up and the tires and wheels did not look like WWII relics. There were even goodies that I could use up top. Another source of inspiration was the M706 armored car.

The paint job of purple on black is to match my inquisition army. The back is a tribute to the UK police cars of GW's homeland. It gave me an excuse to use bright colors too.

Granted, this is my first kitbash and my first use of plasticard, but I think it came out pretty well:

The turret and commander are magnetized so I can change them later if needed.

Here are a couple of shots of the armored car before paint so you can see what was Chimera (grey), LAV (brown, tires, and chasis), and scratch. The purity seals and commander are from FW.

Thats amazing - I love it, would be nice to see it next to another tank to see the size differance, but it does look really really good!

Thanks! I don't have a regular Chimera, but if I get the chance I can take a shot of it next to a Rhino. I think mine is a little longer, thinner, and taller than the standard kit.
