Space Wolf Omnibus, what do you think

I read them back in 99 (or something like that, eh?) when they were first released, and lovede every single on eof them then.

Last year, I re-read them and, yeah, they're still a good read, especially for Space Wolves Fans (i'm SURPRISED there's still those of you out there who's yet to read them ), although a lot of other black library books surpass them quality-wise in my opinion.

(You wanna buy something, you wanna buy the Eisenhorn Omnibus )

The first four were good, the 5th was a bit weird and the 6th was alright. It sheds a fair bit of light on the Wolves, and has it's moments but as TeamLando correctly says - if you want a truely good BL read, Eisenhorn (or indeed anything by Abnett) is well worth the effort.
Space wolves book are quite good especially the first omnibus. But as said before Eiserhorn /bow. Its not just scifi its really really good and also it gives you the feel of how the imperium is,even from an inquisitor's point of view which is kinda different than the normal citizen.

Wow my first post...finally

The first omnibus is an excellent read and a must for any wolf fan if they havnt read it already, the following three books were pretty good but in my opinion not as good as the first three.

Awesome site by the way ;)

All of them up to Wolfblade are a required reading for any wolflord the other two I think are just daft but there are better book out there Eiserhorn is perticually good read as well as Ravoner also wait for Persapro burn the Lord Leman Russ is sure to be laying the smack down in it :)
I personally only really liked the Omnibus itself, the books after started to get... repetitive to me. they are still good reads i just kinda noticed a "go one place, have a fight. got to another, have a fight." the first few books i guess flow better to me.
People seem pretty split on Wolfblade. Personally I loved it, took things away from the "Massive battle pew pew, kill da baddies," and moved it to more politically and "gray area" fights. Ala Wolfblade and fighting Dark Angels, with a strong return in the last book. Also the final 3 focus more on the grooming of Ragnar to be a Wolf Lord.

Well if you're a Wolf fan and you don't have that omnibus you're committing an act of heresy against the all-father. They are quite good and well worth your time. You should probably read the whole series though, as some said already the quality drops a bit after Lee Lightner takes over for William King but they are still worth your time and money.

On another note I can give you guys the word on the short story "Wolf at the gate" that's in the new Horus Heresy short story collection. It is indeed a very good story full of plenty of action, some humor, and all the various little things that make us love the wolves. However I will warn you now that its very depressing too as it really gives some insight into the way the wolves think. As you all I am sure are well aware the Wolves really are good guys that try to protect the common man and stand for honor and justice. So it shows how conflicted the wolf lord Bulveye is when he has to put planets to the sword for not joining with the Imperium.

*On a side note the spelling of Bulveye I think is to promote the reader to pronounce his name correctly as its spoken since the traditional spelling of Buliwyf doesn't look like it should be pronounced that way at all. But Bulwyf was the main character in the movie 13th warrior which was based on the book eaters of the dead by Michael Crichton and anyone who likes vikings who hasn't seen it is missing out.

Well, I haven't got the Omnibus myself, I've read it but I don't own it... I do have Wolfblade if that's any consolation. I'd like to get my dirty, ale-soaked paws on it though, just have to get Sons of Fenris and Wolf's Honor to go with it.

@ Prathios- I do own that though. :) So next time I go to the Wolf Priest, if he tells me to start eating onion soup I should be worried eh? Especially if there's a Tallarn there with him?

^_^

Omnibus is the best way to buy a series IMHO, 8 bucks for a paperback is nonsense. You know they used to call paperbacks "throwaway" books in the states, because it was expected after one or two reads theyd most likely be wrecked and thrown away/recycled.
