excorcist in new codex

nexus night

Recommended Posts

hey everyone,

Got my very first excorcist yesterday! But i noticed it had a base rhino body (obviously) i noticed that it had a troop carrying spot. Now if and when a new codex comes out does anyone think it would be cool if it could carry troops? Like retributers with h/bolters or meltas taht would be cool. What do you guys think?

Not really, the Exorcist is more of a main battle tank/fire support unit and as such would not be very useful for transporting troops as you cannot shoot any weapons on a non-fast vehicle that moves over 6". This means that it would not be very useful in this role.
Anything based off of the Rhino chassis would have the troops compartment, but trust me, you don't want other Rhino based vehicles with a troop carrying capacity. The thought of Devastators or Havocs mounted in a Predator is enough to make me wince. Imagine that driving up to contest an objective.
There's no room for troops in an Exorcist ( or a predator or whirlwind etc.) becuase all that space is reserved for ammo for the weapon systems. And the model would cost more if GW made different interior bits to go with each tank. Anyway, the Exorcist is awesome the way it is. Congratulations on your purchase.

The tank is based off the rhino chassis, as such share's the same base hull. Similar really to the Rhino/Razorback. As such it is possible to make those vehicles interchangeable. I have never tampered with an Exorcist, though, and would imagine such a transition would be tricky.

I can't, nor would I want to, see Exorcists carrying troops for the same reasons that Predators and Hellhounds/Basilisks can't and, by extension, why Razorbacks carry less.

There's no room for troops, because there's up to 7 boxes of missiles, each box containing a random number from 1-6...

Presumably there's a picture on the outside of six rockets, with a small print disclaimer, saying "Contents may vary from illustration", or "Contents may settle in transit"

I've imagined some crazy gambling machine. A mad zealot pulls a lever and an array of flashing lights spin and land on a random number, whilst said zealot drools.

The Chassis is no different than the Predator, Whirlwind, or Vindicator ... all of which also offer no Transport capability. Simply put, it is GWs way of being lazy where they just need to mass produce the main tank form and provide armament bits to make it different, yet they can't combine those different bits in a single box for some reason to allow you to change your Predator into a Whirlwind.

Of course aside from being lazy, a single chassis that supports a mirriad of different vehicles with a minimum of modification would be an amazingly efficient design. So in a way it makes a lot of sense that its done that way. Especially considering the mechanicus forgets stuff everyday about how to fix things, form this standpoint its a really good thing they all use a basic design.

That and GW is lazy...
