stinkenheim
well after a while twiddling my thumbs waiting for greenstuff to dry and sculpting mutton chops on random heads i decided to get the paints out... so without further delay heres a w.i.p shot of my pack leader http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00388.jpg I would love to hear your opinions on it as it stands, particularly the scratches on the leg armou (the only armour sections pretty muche done) because i want all the wolves to have a degree of battle damage on their armour... anyhoo, thats all from me for today, Andy +edit+ took off a couple of pics Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163088-finally-finished-him-wolf-guard-pack-leader/ Share on other sites
Grey Mage
That better then my painting. The scartched look like battle damage, not scratched paint... its good. Im not sure about the gold wolf buckle but that could just be the light. JEFF4i
I think it looks great, except for one nagging thing... It looks like the his wolf's eyes on the pelt are still in there and almost like its alive... SeanyPrawny
I used those old long fang legs on my recent WG too, though with not nearly as and impressive a result as that one. Lets just say he looked better unpainted lol. Very good both with the conversion and the paint job anyway and love the hammer. Vassakov
Looking very nice. Shouldpads need finishing, but overall I like it very much. Personally I think the little touches of Gold bring a lot to the model, makes him look like a revered hero rather than just another Marine with a whacking stick as most of the Codex Boys do. stinkenheim
That better then my painting. The scartched look like battle damage, not scratched paint... its good. Im not sure about the gold wolf buckle but that could just be the light. that was left over from the original paint job, the new one will be a black belt with grey rim, the wolf head will still be gold but an older, more antiquated feel. and im glad you like the look of the scratches :) I think it looks great, except for one nagging thing... It looks like the his wolf's eyes on the pelt are still in there and almost like its alive... i thought about that when i was painting it but thought i'd do the same route that taxidermists use when making rugs such like where they put glass eyes in, in my opinion they look better with eyes painted rather than being blank but i'd like to hear other peoples opinions on the matter... thanks for the kind words everyone :) +edit+ also apologies for some of my spelling (sure there are plenty of mistakes), english is my first language i just suck at it :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163088-finally-finished-him-wolf-guard-pack-leader/#findComment-1917272 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Looks great, love the base curious as to what weapon config you will run him with, as such as TH and PP or BP? Whatever it is, will you be adding this piece of gear to his body? Is that a skull on his left pauldron? As this is WIP would like to hear what you planned to touch up before I make any suggestions. Jonny Wolf
Love it. Well painted and modelled. My only nag: the green colors on the front of the model (unless it's just unpainted green stuff - then forgive me), but I think that the green clashes with the whole color scheme and is one color too many. Great model though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163088-finally-finished-him-wolf-guard-pack-leader/#findComment-1917460 Share on other sites

Whatever it is, will you be adding this piece of gear to his body? WG Vrox well the model itself is done its just the painting that needs to be finished... he'll be equiped with thunder hammer, bolt pistol, wlf tail talisman, frag grenades, wolf tooth necklace and runic charm... probably hidden from view here but the model has a holstered pistol on the right side of his belt so for wysiwyg purposes its al there (as far as i'm concerned)... Yeah its a skull Vrox, this guy is in our 3rd ed codex..... well i see that someones been reading my previous wip threads ;) ...either that or its a surprisingly good representation of the picture... Love it. Well painted and modelled. My only nag: the green colors on the front of the model (unless it's just unpainted green stuff - then forgive me), but I think that the green clashes with the whole color scheme and is one color too many. Grey Mage
Its actually just a good representation of the guy. I didnt place it until Vass actually asked if it was a skull... and then *ding* I figured it had to be the guy. Same bionics, pose was right, head angle. Id always seen him with a power axe personally, but Im digging the maul. stinkenheim
heres an update... very nearly finished (skull, handle of hammer and spikes... and a grenade) http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00405.jpg not sure about the belt... doesn't fit with the rest of the model but i'll look at that.... and i've decided to got with Bjorn Stormwolf's great company, hence the thunderwolf symbol on his shoulder pad... thought it might go some way to explaining the redonculous amounts of thunder hmmers that seem to have found their way into my list... again c+c much appreciated :) +edit+ removed some pics Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163088-finally-finished-him-wolf-guard-pack-leader/#findComment-1918516 Share on other sites

Vassakov
Personally, I like the tarnished brass colour - keep it! I like the rest of the model to, by the way - a worthy sentinal of Russ' domains, and a warrior I would be happy raise an Ale too! Unfortunately, he's just a model. So I guess you get the ale! Hrolleif
Noooooo of course not......... :D .......or sitting down on the floor with a glass of water, promplty passing out and waking up sitting in a puddle spilled from said glass in front of the toilet.......... ;) ............nope, nothing like that ever happens. DGC
The more this goes on the more I am liking the figure I have a couple of conversions myself using the old Longfang legs, I think they are great and give a more impressive look to our more important figures. Loving the painting especially the axe and gems, theyv'e come out really well Only sugestions are (and I know it's a w.i.p) some more highlighting on the armour to help the panels stand out from each other and please lighten the wolf skull on the shoulder. In the firt couple of pics you posted I thought it was a parrot  - no slur on your work intended, but the colours seemed to be to close together as to almost blend into one Love the model and look forward to it's completion Catcha - DGC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163088-finally-finished-him-wolf-guard-pack-leader/#findComment-1919073 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Very nice sir, If that is not a drinkers nose, then I am flying bore. Gems our very well blended and the wolf pelt is one of the best I have seen. Only suggestions I have for you is go for a slight worn effect on the back pack wolves heads. A very light dry brush of dark brown maybe. Also in that catagory do you think you could get that gem effect inside the wolves eyes on the pack. ------ Hats off to ya if you can my steady handed brother. Also the silver frag is asking for some depth maybe a dab of an ink wash. \\ Would like to see more of a petrified bone look for the skull, but that a personal taste thing. Outstanding job on the weapon that think is sweet looking. WG Vrox. Also in that catagory do you think you could get that gem effect inside the wolves eyes on the pack. ------ Hats off to ya if you can my steady handed brother. Also the silver frag is asking for some depth maybe a dab of an ink wash. \\ i agree the gold needs some scrathces/weathering to tie it in with the rest of the model and i'm testing different ways so eventually it'll get done... as for the frag grenades it was unpainted in the previous pics so it was just the metal showing through... and good idea with the gems in the eyes might well look into that... anyhoo, this'll be the final W.I.P update cos theres almost nothing left to do... just some spikes to finish and the little skulls on the bottom of the legs so enjoy http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00423.jpg tadaa... i'm sure i'll find something i've forgotten to paint... always seems to be the way with me :) Andy +edit+ oh yeah, i've got to look into putting snow on the model itself... not too much but i want some in some on the backpack, around the rim of the shoulder pads.. basically enough that it looks like its snowing rather than the models waited for it to stop before stepping outside to smack someones head in... maybe dark angels don't like bad weather but i can't see a son of russ being worried about getting a bit cold :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163088-finally-finished-him-wolf-guard-pack-leader/#findComment-1920526 Share on other sites
ChainsawDR
dude, that looks awesome - really really good. There is only one very small thing that I personally dont like about it (and I don't want this to distract from saying it looks really good) - that is the base from the back. I feel like the rock he's standing on should continue out of the back as well as the front. Apart from that, really excellent work.
