Pre-Heresy Terminator question

Hi all,

Hope I'm in the right place (first post). I have a question about the Terminator pictured at the bottom of the page in this link:

Is this indeed a pre-heresy Terminator? And what exactly is he armed with? His left hand looks like a Power Fist, but the right hand has me stumped. It's not really visible in the pic in the link, so I'll describe it. There are two tubes (more square than round), one above the other, attached to the glove's back, and what looks like a flexible hose that runs back up to the rear bottom of the shoulder pad. Is this some sort of flamer? Missile launcher targeting system? A grenade launcher?

Your expertise on vintage models would be appreciated. Thanks!

The left hand (the model's right) looks like a storm bolter, much like Grey Knights one. While the right hand (the model's left) looks like a powerfist, or as dustermaker calls it a powerclaw. Hope that helps

Messanger

N.B. maybe one of the older gamers from the rouge trader era could shine some more definitive light on what the model is armed with (maybe a post in the general area will get a faster response).

how hard would it be to get one?

I've seen them go for around £5 or so on ebay if you're prepared to be patient in getting hold of one. These seem to go for slightly less than the 'turtle dome' style terminator for some reason (although I think these are better models).

I think fluff wise these guys haven't really been retconned back into pre-heresy history in the way that alot of RT/2nd ed stuff has been through the Collected Visions books. Certainly, all the depictions of pre-heresy terminators in that artwork look quite different, and generally go for the well known 'calaphracti' design.

However, personally I think there is still room to shoe-horn them in to your pre-heresy force. We know that the first suits of terminator armour were modified industrial suits which had been designed for extremely hazardous environments. This went through several incarnations, and was made in many different locations. I think its certainly plausible that a legion used these suits during the early parts of the great crusade (or even later if they were away from any resupplies) before they had got hold of the later calaphracti suits.
