gil galed
so there have been rumours of Plastic GK's for a while, and BoLS post today has some nice new GK artwork for the coming GD UK, what do you reckon are the chances of them every coming out? i've always loved GK but didn't really want to commit to that much metal/money... however were a plastic range to come out i'd literally buy an entire army at once, anyone else feel the same? Cedric
The artwork is nothing new, and I believe FW and GW would be happy to anounce plastic GK themselves and start taking pre-orders from enthusiastic fans. At best, it is a leak. Likely it is the same old regurgitated wishful thinking. gil galed
yeh it was what i really feared, i don't know if they'd be as cool if they were as common as space marines...maybe i should just induct a squad into my main army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163223-plastic-grey-knights/#findComment-1918243 Share on other sites
LoneSniperSG
What they really ought to do is just make a Grey Knights upgrade sprue. Say like the Space Wolves, Dark Angels and Black Templars all have their own nitpicky detail sprue. Then we could just buy those and some tac squads. Seems cheaper for everyone. Euradaeces
I'd certainly go for that - the only problem I can see is numbers - there are plenty of wolves, dark angels and black templar players out there who regularly pick up a box or two of upgrades - maybe GW is worried there aren't (or potentially wouldn't be) as many GK players to keep the box in production Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163223-plastic-grey-knights/#findComment-1918395 Share on other sites
Imperator Mos
Considering the independent bit market and how many space marine players there are, that sprue would get sold one way or another. And if they did a codex upgrade or Chapter Approved to go along with it... That would actually be very viable. Torso plates, helmets, right and left arms. You could use any SM legs, torso backs, and backpacks. Add in some detail bits like on the SW, DA, and BT sprues and we have a winner... GW, are you listening? Captain Malachi
GW, are you listening? I doubt it. To be honest, I like the metal models, though I'll admit that making a pure GK army is expensive. But if they went to plastic the models just wouldn't be as good. Uhhh... -_- So, with all the time and effort to make an upgrade sprue that'll replace all but three pieces then why not just add those three pieces and make an entier new sprue? Gentlemanloser
I build my Plastic Grey Knights from BT/Command Squad Tabards, BT/Command Squad 'Crusader' Helms, and SM legs with no Knee pads. Add in proper Thigh Guards (using Assault Termy Crotch Plates) and plastic GK Shoulder Pads and all that's left is wrist mounted Storm Bolters. Package that as a BT/DA like Upgrade Box, and I'm sure it will sell like hot cakes! From Grey Knight players, to BT and DiY knight like chapter builders. Inquisitor =D=
To be honest, I like the metal models, though I'll admit that making a pure GK army is expensive. But if they went to plastic the models just wouldn't be as good. I honestly hope they don't make plastic Gk's... I mean I go to some length to ensure that every Gk in my force is unique to its namesake and yeah plastic would make it easier, but it just wouldn't feel right to me. It would feel more like a normal SM force to me. The part that attracts people to us is that we're hard to do anything with. Paint, Convert, Win... Plastic would feel like cheating to me. ^_^ How's bout this then. If they make Plastic Gk's, sell me your metal ones. Personally I want my army case to be able to hurt someone its stuffed full of so much metal. As my friend would say "Grey Knights Are Metal!" ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163223-plastic-grey-knights/#findComment-1919546 Share on other sites
IraSummers
I'm with Inquisitor and Malachi here. I hope they do not make them in plastic. I would not mind a few new poses in blisters, but do not favor plastic. I would hate to see the sudden spam of everyone swapping over. The "dumb" local players (mostly space marine players, not saying anything about marines though!) still say and even try to argue that I play Space Marines, just with better weapons. They have NO IDEA how diffrent the two really are. We have similar basic stats and power armor...thats it... KingDeath
Not certain if i would like plastic grey knights. The current metal ones are highly detailed and i think that plastic ones would be quite bland in comparission. Just look at your standard plastic tactical marine and compare it with a metal grey knight. Verythrax Draconis
It's just because a common SM IS quite bland compared to a GK anyway  Seriously guys, it's incredible the level of detail possible in plastics right now, we are not during the days of the necrons release anymore. I even dare to say that the new plastics can be even better than the metals we are used to.
