geisterwolf
Hi all, after a long break from the game i started a new CSM Army. At the moment i'm aiming at 1500 points, but have no exact army list. Just painting stuff i like. So far i'm working on the first 10 Man squad. I used parts from 3 different sprues ( Loyal SM, CSM and Possesed CSM ), mixing them togehter. I wanted to create some old, though looking Chaos Marines, with various mutations. Each model should have a unique look. As base color i used citadel gretchin green. For shadows and mud effect i used various brown colors and washes. Highlights are painted with adding yellow or / and bonewith to the base color ( Kinda Nurglesque :D ) Some parts are painted in red, to break uniformity and to make painting a little more interesting. I added also some free-hands on the red parts. Bases will be urban warfare style Here are some wip pictures: group shot: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03011.jpg single shots and details: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03014.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03016.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03018.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03021.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03027.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03028.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03033.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03037.jpg close-up free-hand: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03026.jpg Icon: finished some basic lines and forms. Now i have to work out the shadows and highlights: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03038.jpg Next step will be finishing the squad. The champion will be converted ( not just swapped parts ). I thought about painting him in a bonewhite scheme to make him stand out more from the rest of the guys. Feel free to post some suggestions or comments cya geisterwolf Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163234-csm-army-project-brotherhood-of-shathak/ Share on other sites
blood_raven_240
Not bad! They remind me of John Blanch's Hybrid Marines from a recent WD Article! Belive me, that's a good thing... Anyway, they look good so far! The freehand is awesome on the Standard Bearer's legs! RazakelXIII
Wow, these are amazing. Excellent freehand and the color scheme is very, very disgusting (in the best possible way ;)). The one in the seventh pic down is my favorite - I like the hunched look. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163234-csm-army-project-brotherhood-of-shathak/#findComment-1918424 Share on other sites
Megalodon
I dig the gritty overall feel to the marines and the freehand is outstanding! It's a great scheme with excellent execution! geisterwolf
Hello all, finally a update. Last two weeks i was occupied with work, but managed to paint a little on a regular basis. I made some bases for the troops, added a new trooper ( will be my special weapon guy ) and started on the unit's champion. So here are the pics: Champion: took me around 3 hours to get the leg done ( kinda forgot about time while painting :) ). The chest part will be red with blue eyes. Maybe i try a source lighting there. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03050.jpg Head and detail shot leg: Head was slightly modified with some tentacles http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03048.jpghttp://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03051.jpghttp://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03053.jpg Group shot: need to finish bases, backpacks and some minor painting. getting closer to one full squad :D http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03055.jpg Shoulder freehand: just trying some new stuff out http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03057.jpg Specialist weapon trooper: probably i give him a melta http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03059.jpg details: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03060.jpghttp://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03062.jpg Squad banner: added more highlights and shadows, but not quite satisfied with the result so far http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/banner1.jpg Additional banner: for later use, more nurglish http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/banner2.jpg Basic base: just some quick brushing and washing. maybe will add some barbed wire http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03039.jpg Rhino: just assembled and primered with the basic colour ( done with airbrush ) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/geisterwolf/DSC03043.jpg Well thats all for now. Hope i have more spare time next week. geisterwolf
Lookin' good. You did join the Call of Chaos right? We must defeat those loyalist pigdogs. Joined today! Also found a name for my warband: "Brotherhood of Shathak" ( changed the title of the thread accordingly ) Shathak is a Great Old One from the Cthulhu Mythos. ( Mistress of the Abyssmal Slime, Death Reborn, Mother of the Kraken ) The idea would be, that my army prays to a lesser chaos god. cya geisterwolf Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163234-csm-army-project-brotherhood-of-shathak/#findComment-1948056 Share on other sites

Castlerook
Nice army, and even nicer to see someone use Lovecraft's work to such an extent. I take it we'll see some version of the Esoteric Order of Dagon sometime in the future? Keep up the great work, looking forward to see some updates  .
