Hi folks,

sorry for the late update, i was tempted by the new blood angel codex and started to paint some red dudes. But after some time i got bored and i really want to create a new mini for my Brotherhood. So i roamed the net for some tutorials and here's the result:

As usual i gave this guy some tentacles. Whats new is the mud effect on the base and feet. Also i tried to make some bloody, slimy strings.

I also resculpted the torso a bit to give the model a more archaic look. Painting was done in the usual way, with some added freehands to complete the model.

So i'm back. Hope you like the mini!

Greetings

Hi all,

another update! Another grunt for my Brotherhood. Again some tentacles and new improved slime. :) Although i think i overdid it a bit on the backpack.

Added a little bit of barbed wire on the base. The green pools of chemical waste and the bloody slime look a bit flashy on the pics, but that's because they still need time to dry.

Here are the pics:

@exodial: I used plastic glue and mixed it with some red wash. Then leave the mixture to dry a bit ( more or less one minute ). After that you take a tooth pick and tip it into the mixture and apply it to the area you want. You can pull the toothpick in the direction you want to get the strings. Its a bit tricky, but after some tries you get the hang of it. Its not totally exact but fun to do. :)

First off, great thread. I am really loving your original take on the CSM's at the start the red seemed a little flat, but with the free-handing it really comes out.

Secondly, i have been looking through the net for a slimey recipe like yours to put on my nids, when you say plastic glue do you mean PVA or a plastic cement?

Great thread

@Sugamonster: Thanks for the comment. In the beginning i had an overall idea how the army should look, but from there it turned kinda chaotic. I started to try out different ideas and concepts, adding a little of sculpting, different colors and effects. Not the fastest way to paint an army. :)

I used a PVA glue i think. ( the one from GW, but its a bit tricky since when you rub it to strongly it takes the color off )

Here's the link for the tutorial i used: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2009/10/...-and-stuff.html

You can find plenty of other great tutorials on the same side.
