Pig Of Sparta
Playing with some bits while trying to figure out the best way to make a marine stood straight legged I came up with this idea, but which looks best? 1) http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/strollin.jpg 2) http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/point.jpg I'm thinking 1) but I could be wrong. As usual, this mini is not part of anything larger than me trying to make a cool loking model. Colours wise, if I can pull off the Imperial Fists colours I'm trying out on the Veteran Scout, then I might use them on this guy. If not, who knows? Anyway, please comment or criticse James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/ Share on other sites
blood_raven_240
Pose Two looks more purposeful, and more dynamic. I also believe that he'd look better in command of a Tactical Squad, although he'd also be interesting as an Assault Marine Sergeant. Up to you in the end. Whatever you thinks better is the best for you, so go with it :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918329 Share on other sites
MillardFlemming
Which body is that? One of the Vanguards?I love Both the poses, but I think that the first one is a bit better. If he was pointing, I'd think he'd have a more dynamic pose, while the first one looks like he's just seen something, and is going to walk over and lay down some pain. I really like both though. Overdrive
I'd say it depends on what you want to portray. The first pose looks like he's stalking something, while the second looks more like he's in command. Personally I prefer the second pose though. Perry T
personally i love both poses and i think either will look great once you've painted them up Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918355 Share on other sites
Leonaides
I'd agree - the first pose looks like he's hunting something, walking so he doesnt run into a trap or miss any trails it left but to me, the second pose says "You! I'm having you for breakfast!" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918363 Share on other sites
blood_raven_240
Thinking about what Perry T said, maybe you could magnetise the arms, paint both left arms, and switch between them whenever it takes your fancy? Rob_Loken
Personally I'd go with the first one. It does look like he's stalking the battlefield. Ryno
I'd say 2 - he looks like he's got that imposing walk joined with a 'you're next' fingerpoint. I like it. MillardFlemming
If you switched the head for a crusader head or a dehorned Jango Fett Khorne head, H'ed look amazing. RazakelXIII
I'm a big fan of the first one myself - very imposing. The second one is nice and "command"-y, but he looks naked without the Bolt Pistol. ;) Might just be the lack of backpack, though. Doghouse
I also like pose number one, looks like he's reacting slightly to something that's going on or just about to break out into a charge. Terminatorinhell
number one, it looks like he's going to lash out at someone. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918529 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Thanks for the opinions guys, looks like number one has clinched it ^_^. I'm kinda glad because even thoughI kinda liked bothl, I'm inclined to agree with Razakel that he looks a little naked without the Bolt Pistol. @MillardFlemming: Close, but not quite, it's one of the Sternguard mini's. I'm not sure if I can be bothered doing a head swap cause it means going an borrowing my dad's razor saw... I'll think about it though. @DornsPadawan: Good to see you bud, not heard from you in a while :) @blood_raven_240: unfortunately magnetizing is beyond my financial means just now. But I guess I could paint up both arms and either make 'em both pinable or just see which looks best with some colour on and go with that one... @Doghouse, Brother Duncsand Leonaides: I'm glad you think it looks like he's stalking forward I was a little worried it might look like he was startled which was the last thing I wanted my seven foot tall superhuman killing machine to look like :) Hopefully I'll have made some more progress soon, James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918614 Share on other sites
stinkenheim
ahh, you see i prefered the second pose but its your mini and the reasons stated are fair enough... now all you have to do is paint it, looking forward to seeing it done Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918644 Share on other sites
{}{
Pose 2 looks a lot better in my opinion it makes him look like he is actually in a battle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1918645 Share on other sites
Drac0
I like both poses, hard to decide, but I like the look on pose nr. 2 it sends a clear message "you're next" or something scorpion style "get over here!" Pig Of Sparta
I've stuck with pose 1 and the mini is now undercoated.... let the painting commence :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1920683 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
I don't know if you considered it but what about exchanging the pointing arm with a boltpistol combining both poses. Pig Of Sparta
@ Spacefrisian: I did consider it, but I feel the pose I've gone with has a stronger feel to it than having him blazing away with a bolt pistol would. I might be wrong, but I'm hoping I can pull this off. Not much of an update, but I have basecoated the armour now: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/basecoatyellow.jpg Although there's not really much to comment on or criticise, please feel free to do so. Brother Iencub
With the basecoat on, to me the head seems a lot bigger...Prolly fixed when done, just he colours tricking me. Pig Of Sparta
I think it could be just that Brother Iencub, Once I've done the shade on the armour I'll get started on the red for the helmet, hopefully this'll sovle the problem ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1922282 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Ok, so not much progress, but progress none the less. I've begun basecoating the red areas (the head, chest eagle and although you can't see it there's a red eagle on his backside too) and have tidied up the shading on the yellow, I've missed a few bits I think, abd there's a couple of areas that need a couple more layers to get a solid colour. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/rybase.jpg http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/bpbase.jpg this is one of my least favourite parts of a project, when the mini looks a total mess... even though it's got to go through this to get painted :) anyways, C&C welcomed as usual, James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/#findComment-1935210 Share on other sites
