Pig Of Sparta
@ tahrikmili: It's one of the Sternguard Veteran mini's, normally he'd be cradling a bolter ;). @ son of nocturne: Hey John, glad you're liking him. All I've really got to do now is work out what I'm gonna put on his shoulder pads... well the right one mainly. I'm not quite sure what kind of veteran markings he should have. Oh, and base him :). @tortoise thanks mate. The pose kind of made itself, it just looked so natural when I first blue tacked the arms in place. @Marshal2 Crusaders Thats exactly how I envision him, he's striding forward with the self assurance born from centuries of experience, that nothing is going to stand in his way... I'll be post updated photos soon :) James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/page/3/#findComment-1951184 Share on other sites
Mal
Its a great pose and the painting is first rate, but personally I don't like the yellow, its bold and very strong, which is two good things... but it looks a little too orangy-brown for what I view an Imperial Fist to be... but then thats just my opinion on their colour... its your mini so its your choice. Good job. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/page/3/#findComment-1951192 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Cheers Mal. You're right, he's not traditional 'yellow', but I found this colour easier to achieve than any other yellow I've tried to paint before . Falhurk
I quite like him. I also prefer the "orangish" paint colour over the traditional "yellow". The only thing I didn't think I liked was the plain silver sword. After looking at it for some more time I really like it. I feel it pulls things together nicely. Of course, your painting skills surpass mine. If I were to paint an Imperial Fist army, I would follow your example. Pig Of Sparta
@Falhurk Thanks mate. If you hang around here for a while, you might find your painting skills start to improve a little, mine sure have. If you take a look at some of my earlier stuff and compare to my more recent stuff the difference is painfully clear. If you keep ppushing yourself, and trying new techniques and ideas, you'll get better fairly quickly. I really hoped to have this guy finished by now, but I just can't get his shoulder pad insignia right. Tried freehanding the fist on the left one, and it just didn't look right. Tried freehanding a crux on the right one and it didn't work either. SM transfers are just annoying, so I think I'm gonna have to buy myself some Micro-Sol.... In the mean time here's how he stands just now: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/whitestripefront.jpg http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/swordside.jpg I'll try and base him tomorrow, and that way if I can scrpae some funds together and get some Micro Sol I can just finish him real easy :), James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/page/3/#findComment-1954355 Share on other sites
Obliterator
Very nice, I can't find anything I don't like on this mini  The dark yellow works great with the white trims for 1st company. Marshal Rohr
So you did or didn't use Chaos Bunny's recipe? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163236-imperial-fist-veteran-sergeant/page/3/#findComment-1954559 Share on other sites
Overdrive
Looking great Sparta. The white stripe on the helm really ties in the white on the shoulders to complete the look. Have you considered painting the studs metallic? Also it could be the picture but it looks like you could use a further thin highlight on the gem of the sword. I hope your next project is soon coming! Pig Of Sparta
@ Marshal2 Crusaders: I used Chaos Buuny Studio's recipie as inspiration. I don't have any bleached bone just now so I higlighted by adding white to the vomit brown in increasing amounts . @ Overdrive: I'm glad I took the time to white stripe him, I think it's really paid off. You're right there's one last strip of colour to go on the sword's gem, with a bit of luck I'll get it done today. Fear not, I'll have more projects coming this way soon! @ Obliterator: I was a little worried about the yellow and white to start with, but I wanted to break away from the traditional black trims that all Fist's seem to have. I also figured that if they follow the codex as closely as is claimed then they'd have no problems with company colours going on the shoulder pads instead of the chest eagle, if that's even right anymore.
