another thing to tip you off (if it hasnt been stated before, i got about 1/2 thru this thread) is that demon princes dont count as demons, thats very important for thing. since they no longer have 'demonic gifts' nor demonic stature or the ability to take 50+ pts in demonic gifts (as stated in pg 20, bottom right), and they dont count as demons, only monstrous creatures, things like demonhammers and anointed weapons dont get the bonuses they use to have when fighting them. same with destroy demon and banishment psychic attacks. i would suggest giving a squad sacred incense when fighting chaos, probably terminators.

You are making the mistake of thinking that the DH codex has the final and exclusive authority to define what constitutes a daemon. The DH codex makes no such claim whatsoever. And nowhere in this game can it ever be assumed that one codex takes precedence over another.

 

The DH codex does NOT overrule the Chaos Daemons codex. The Chaos Daemons codex clearly states that every model in the army counts as a daemon. That would include daemon princes, of course. :(

 

True, by the strictest RAW, the daemon princes, summoned greater daemons, and summoned lesser daemons from the CSM codex wouldn't be classified as a daemon. But any Chaos Marines player that insists upon playing the game like that doesn't deserve your respect or your time for a game. No event I've ever played in has let a Chaos Marines player get away with that.

thats the thing, IF they are running a chaos demons army, they everything in that army is considered a demon, BUT a demon prince in chaos marine codex doesnt count as a demon (odd thing really) but all other demon units are still classified as demons as stated in the DH book. it lists off a large group of demons and anything with demonic buffs from the vehicle armory. the codex states "all demonhosts,greater demons and demon packs, demon beasts, nurglings, demonically possessed vehicles, possessed chaos marines..." skipping a few things in there, but as stated there, and as it is in teh new CM codex, a demon prince is not a demon. as a chaos marine player put it "its just a chaos marine thats been mutated and pumped up, he is still a chaos marine". alot of chaos players in my area have taken up that mantra, and TBH it pisses me off. they should have updated our codex after updating the CM codex, not waiting on it because it puts our army with more disadvantages than we already had in 5 ed.
