AFoolProofPlan
So I've finally painted enough models to justify taking some pics. They ain't the best paint job, but certain enough to get by on Table Top...I think. C&C welcome. Whatever will help me paint better I guess. CHAPTER MASTER TU'SHAN......'s right hand man He'll be leading the company until I get around to making Tu'shan I clearly over estimated my painting and converting skill for this guy, but he'll do just fine for now http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0003.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0004.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0002.jpg Chaplain, and Librarian http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0006.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0009.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0008.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/ Share on other sites
AFoolProofPlan
The army, thus far http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0027.jpg One of the Tactical Squad http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0019.jpg "Serge" He was originally suppose to be Vulkan, but I decided he wasn't fancy enough http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0014.jpg Couple other figures http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_02611.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0268.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0024.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1920259 Share on other sites
AFoolProofPlan
LAND RAIDER! I call it Elmo I actually painted this damn thing without a Tank Brush... http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0030.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0031.jpg Dreadnought http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0021.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0023.jpg And Rhino piece that I'm quite pleased with http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0012.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1920262 Share on other sites
The Emperor's Champion
I'm going to assume you're more clever than naming the Land Raider after the Muppet and instead went with a reference to St. Elmo's Fire (which also happens to be described as green on occasion). Flamedrag
Most of this stuff is really good. Only downfall in my opinion is the scales on the cape. But atleast he does have a Giant Sword! gil galed
some of the stuff is cool, some of the stuff less so (not sure about the thunder hammer backpack / chappy chain saw bolter) also beating stick and elmo seem a little... out of place Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1920400 Share on other sites
OwenCrute
I recommend a wash or ink over your metallics and parchment, right now they're rather too bright, IMO. Black or blue wash over silver, brown over gold or parchment. Army shot looks good. AFoolProofPlan
I'm going to assume you're more clever than naming the Land Raider after the Muppet and instead went with a reference to St. Elmo's Fire (which also happens to be described as green on occasion). It is now. lol One of my friend used to call me Elmo for some reason...So I thought I'd name it after myself. As you can see I don't take this very seriously I recommend a wash or ink over your metallics and parchment, right now they're rather too bright, IMO. Black or blue wash over silver, brown over gold or parchment.Army shot looks good. I'll get on that right away. Although, It seems I lack the patience to apply enough coats to make a significant difference Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1921472 Share on other sites
shrike22
Is it just me, or do both those chaplain and the Chapter master (or captain) have fists big enough to be power fists??? OwenCrute
I'll get on that right away. Although, It seems I lack the patience to apply enough coats to make a significant difference I find that usually one is plenty. How much are you watering your washes/inks down? DavidKits
hmmm i have to say that leader of your army is really neat. i like conversion. *rubs his chin* when you use him in games. does he count in terminator armor, power or artificer? AFoolProofPlan
I find that usually one is plenty. How much are you watering your washes/inks down? I didn't know I was suppose to water the washes down, and I don't have any ink. so...yeah. So far I've been doing Sepia on shining gold, and brazen brass. And just Thakra on Snot green. I haven't done any washes over other metallics and parchments. The washes are suppose to go on last....right?... Is it just me, or do both those chaplain and the Chapter master (or captain) have fists big enough to be power fists??? Nope. Never big enough. hmmm i have to say that leader of your army is really neat. i like conversion. *rubs his chin* when you use him in games. does he count in terminator armor, power or artificer? Thanks. My first ambitious project. True scale!! I plan on using him as a "terminator" with a "thunder hammer" and "storm shield" or maybe even as Lysander. I figured if He'stan's Mantle can give 3++, why not the mantle on this guy?. Plus 2 power fists, and a giant beating stick should be more than sufficient to be a thunder hammer. AFoolProofPlan
Not the best, but they're hanging out with the rest of my army. One of the Cap'n. I don't really know what to do with him now though http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0001.jpg AoBR Termie Sergent. I actually don't have enough of these guys to lead my termies... http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0007.jpg Couple other Termies, that required some sort of thought process http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0006-2.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/AFoolProofPlan/40K/Salamanders%20Project/IMG_0003-1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1922884 Share on other sites
Imperialis_Dominatus
Your conversions are really cool. And I personally like the Beating Stick... and Elmo the Land Raider... and the frohawk Captain. Metals are gaudy though, I'd have started with some brown beneath then drybrushed the metals. It's lazy but it works, right? Also, the obligatory 'thin your paints' till you're working with food coloring. RussHimself
I really like these, as mentioned above you could add some washes to darken your metallics and give them a bit more character. I especially like the attention to detail, Raiders, Dreadnoughts and addition of Flames here and there. DavidKits
*nods* aye i can understand the idea of using him as a thunder hammer and storm shield captain *chuckles* i remember when those drake cloaks only gave the eternal warrior bonus. and also that was when the Salamanders had the most powerful chaplain in the game. played with him once.. single handedly took down a carnie with it *laughs* good dice rolls for Xavier *laughs again* :) if you don't mind. would it be alright if i try to take my own approch on the character? i wouldn't mind trying to make one myself :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1923962 Share on other sites

Vash113
A lot of your stuff seems to be hit or miss, either I really like the idea and effect or really... don't. Nevertheless if nothing else it's an impressive army and it's always good to see an army fully painted and it's also very... creative. I love your attention to detail. OwenCrute
toss some Gryphonne Sepia on all your gold and parchment, and some Badab Black and maybe Devlan Mud on your silvers. It gives them much more definition. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163384-fools-sallies/#findComment-1924041 Share on other sites

Iunno. Maybe one of the Driver's kid wanted the Marine to name the landraider Elmo?. And I have a habit of failing epically on highlighting...I'm working on it though...
