Ragnar BlackMane

I found it interesting that Ragnar BlackMane was the only model to come packaged with a Fenris Wolf, but I don't see in the current (read current in 2003 is current today) Space Wolf Codex where Lord Ragnar can take Fenris Wolves as add-ons.

Am I wrong? Can this Wolf Lord take wolves or is he prohibitted?

Comments? == REDACTED - JUVENILE & NONCONSTRUCTIVE ==? Advice?

well same for logan grimnar ><

BUT WAIT ! when we use Grimnar / Ragnar , in the special character heading it says " THEY COUNT AS A WOLF LORD in your army" , so in the Wolf lord entry you can bring wolves , make any sense ?

The Special character collums only say you cant give them extra wargear , didnt say you cant give them extra Retinues lol but yeah its a big loop hole when the people who wrote the Codex.........><

humm , what i think is , bring ragnar and 4 wolves then 10 grey hunters with bolt pistol and CC , then attached a Ruin priest to the whole squad to the land raider crusader

so what you do is :

Disembark from LRC / Shoot bolt pistol from every one except ruin priest , ruin priest uses storm caller (attack first in CC) , assault with everyone !

PS: reminder that Grey hinters get the berserker charge from ragnar if they are armed with CC / bolt pistol !

It doesn't say they can, therefore they can't... :-/

They count as Wolf Lords for the 0-1 for the Wolf Lord entry.

See? No loop hole at all...

Can Wolves use transports?, its unclear whether they count as "cavalry", with the 13th list they use some "cavalry" rules.

You know how Tank drivers hate to have to clean up wolf hairs after a long day at war.

If it doesn't say they're cavalry, they're not.

In any case, it says in C:SW under special rules that Fenrisian Wolves can use transports.

So I am liking the idea of Ragnar and 10 Grey Hunters (mainly because I have the extrememely cool BlackMane GreyHunter Shoulder Pads) in a Land Raider (or Crusader) with Fenris Wolves.

I'm sorry, but an IC with a retinue can't join a unit. As the land raider is not a dedicated transport, I'm not sure if the two units could 'share' it, but a Wolf Lord and his retinue would be a separate unit from the Grey Hunters for all intents and pourposes. If the WL was on his own though, it would be a completely different matter.

How can't an IC with a retinue join a unit? There is nothing stating that an IC with a retinue can't join a unit, such as Grey Hunters. The IC and retinue would act as part of that unit until the IC leaves the unit it joined then the retinue would go with the IC....unless I am wrong....
While an IC has a retinue he counts as an upgrade character for that unit. It is not until his retinue is dead that he counts as an independent character again. There is a small section in the IC rules in the BRB. I was dismayed when I read it too... I loved my wolf priest & two fenrisian wolves foining my blood claws.

The rules for Fenrisian Wolves state that a Space Wolf IC with Fenrisian Wolves can join a unit.

It's the page with special rules, 3rd column, 2nd paragraph ;-)

You are right! I apologize for the confusion. It never occurred to me to look in the codex again  Now you've made my day... my blood claws just got two ablative wounds more and 6 attacks more on the charge! :P
