@Richie: How did you paint the white? I am looking for several white recipes and I really love yours, so how did you do it?? The army looks amazing and I love how you used the Chaos Marauder heads, I have to pick some of these up!

My white was done by undercoating with black spray... then i light coating of white undercoat spray so that the more prominant areas are white, but the recesses are darker thanks to the black underneath... then the surfaces were made a more brilliant white as opposed to the powder white of the spray by painting a couple of coats of watered down white paint

:P thanks for the comments guys

I think the army looks terrific. It shows a lot of character.

It would be nice to get some tips on how you achieved the level of weathered look. Its great!

The weathered look is done using a combo of boltgun metal sponged on to give the chipped look.. and thinned down oil paint left to dry abit then dragged across the surfaces.

@Richie:

Do you have a step by step tutorial? When you spray white, do you spray from one constant location or do you spray much like you'd prime, but if you miss some spots then that's ok? Just trying to wrap my head around it. It sounds quite easy, I may have to experiment some on a test mini.

well there are only 3 steps to it as i described... spray the white from a distance... perhaps aiming down on the model.. you want a light coat but you're not trying to get into every nook and cranny like you are when you prime properly.. best bet is to give it a try and see how the coat goes down each time :)

I like 'em. I'm going to have to have a go at the Dirty White painting style you see more of. Plus try the sponge weathering technique...

How's it perform on the field? Enough long range firepower?

They are great fun on the field! I had a good few wins with them lately.. against nids, necrons, and eldar... long range firepower-wise... there are two lascannons, which do pretty well, and the assualt bike outflanking doesn't need to worry about the range so much with its multi-melta.. and the vindicator is a great help too... that with a couple of power fist outflanking on a bike and the chaplin in the vanguard seems to do the job... the necrons i played had two monoliths to deal with! and lots of carnifex's in the nids army i've played. As I say the randomness of outflanking makes them fun (at times) and a tactical challenge when it seems to go wrong lol!

Looks fantastic. The heavy weathing looks great because it is very consistent across the army. The little red details here and there are really creative and look fantastic - like the banners, wings of speeders, etc.

Great job! I would love to see that army across the table from me.

Like I said over on TO very impressive army and I absolutely love the attention to detail and the fluffy markings and color scheme, it's been a long time since I've seen such nice looking White Scars!

That said are you planning on expanding the army further anytime soon?
