Magos Lucas
Long time browser, first time poster here. I finally talked myself into getting some pictures of the Crimson Fists army i'm currently working on. Don't have any WIP shots so will just have to make due with the finished result. First up is my scout squad: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/scouts1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/scouts2.jpg Next up is some of my Sternguard Vets. I have used some of the actual Sternguard models and then filled in with old space marine vets i've had sitting around. One is all plastic and a few others will be by the time i'm done. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/sternguard1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/sternguard2.jpg Here is my first Tac squad. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/tac1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/tac3.jpg The special weapon marines in each squad have all the special weapon options magnetized incase I get sick of how they are equipped. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/tac2.jpg Here is Tac squad 2. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/tac4.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/tac5.jpg More to come as I get it done. C&C always welcome. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163533-my-crimson-fists-pic-heavy/ Share on other sites
JoeG1701
Very Nice! Have to ask...how long did it take you to get that far? I've just started a CF army myself and it's going pretty slow for me right now. Also, how did you do the bases, they look really good. Love to see more! Demaroth
Wow! ... just, wow! Simply amazing. I've made a backstory for my custom Chapter, but I've always loved the CF look... This just makes me even more tempted to do them instead. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163533-my-crimson-fists-pic-heavy/#findComment-1922280 Share on other sites

Magos Lucas
Very Nice! Have to ask...how long did it take you to get that far? I've just started a CF army myself and it's going pretty slow for me right now. Also, how did you do the bases, they look really good. Love to see more! Joe It didn't take as long as I first imagined. I'm involved in a league at my LGS and we step it up by 250 points every month. We started at 500 so that was the roughest to get done quickly. The bases were pretty quick and dirty. My SOB are also on city bases, but were not painted the same way. These were simply some sand, small shale chips, and random bitz box fodder. A few of them have those resin pieces from that GW basing kit. The paint was just Adeptus Battlegrey, washed with Badab Black, washed with Delven Mud, and then slight drybrush of Adeptus again. fwf_cypher
very clean and neat, and i like variety of poses. The only thing i think could be improved is colouring, i think you could go darker with both the blue and red Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163533-my-crimson-fists-pic-heavy/#findComment-1922642 Share on other sites
tarryd
hey nice looking models, very good job. though i think that the tac squad guy jumping over the rubble, while really creative, looks disproportionate. it may have been the angle, but the arm looks too thin and too long. Calimehtar
Superb Fists, mate! I really like the blue, most people tend to paint them much darker but I prefer the way you painted them! P.S. could you write your recipe for the blue,it's the perfect shade I was looking for my DIY chapter, please?! Freakiq
Really nice! :) Very clean painting and interesting basing, the camo is really well don too. And I see you too are a fan of checkered bases Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163533-my-crimson-fists-pic-heavy/#findComment-1924403 Share on other sites
DavidKits
i love the fists how you did them here... but as i look at your models one question continues to burn at me wondering the answer... the sarge with the fist in the air standing on the broken statue who is that. and how did you get em? i see so many with the model and wish i had one but i don't know where he is from and all. Terminatorinhell
@davidkits That sarge is an limited order SM mini that you got if you place an order over 60 pounds or 100 USD, not availible any more but is around $50 on ebay. Magos Lucas
though i think that the tac squad guy jumping over the rubble, while really creative, looks disproportionate. it may have been the angle, but the arm looks too thin and too long. All I did was alter the angle of the arm and did a hand swap to the rocket launder hand. I believe the angle just makes it appear to be too small. P.S. could you write your recipe for the blue,it's the perfect shade I was looking for my DIY chapter, please?! The blue is actually really simple. 3:1 Regal Blue to Midnight Blue Highlight with 50/50 Regal to Ultramarine Unfortunately they don't make Midnight Blue anymore. When I heard that they were discontinuing it, I bought up the 3 pots my LGS had left. I have found that Necron Abyss will work, but you have to play with the ratio a bit to get to match. By the end of the weekend, expect pictures of my Master of the Forge, Venerable Dread, and Assault Termi squad. metcalfedan
Very nice - but I must suggest a wash of Badab Black on the metal and red areas... Not necessary, as they look brill already ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163533-my-crimson-fists-pic-heavy/#findComment-1925275 Share on other sites
Magos Lucas
Ok, big update time as promised. Here are several new pictures of stuff I couldn't get around to photographing the other day. Master of the Forge: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/MoF4.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/MoF3.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/MoF2.jpg I'm pretty pleased with the way he turned out. I particularly like the auspex in his hand and the detail I managed to get out of it. It was quite a challenge getting all those buttons painted like gems. The red is blended better from darker to lighter than in the picture. The lamps i'm using seem to really really brighten up the red and kill a lot of the detail. I'll have to play with my camera settings to see if I can correct it. My Dreadnought: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/dread1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/dread2.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/dread3.jpg The lights also seemed to kill the highlighting on the gold a bit so just bear in mind that the gold really doesn't look that flat in real life. I'm really pleased with the banner as it was my first attempt at really doing anything much with a banner besides a number or little design. If I had to go back and so something to him, I would probably add some text written on his shins or upper arms to break up the big flat blue areas. My Assault Terminators: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/termi1.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/termi2.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/termi3.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/termi4.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/termi5.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/BossStompy/Crimson%20Fists/termi6.jpg These have been my pride and joy to paint. I loved pretty much every minute of converting these and painting them up. I'm dubbing the unit the Knights of Dorn and my fluff for them is that they are Pedro Cantor's personal bodyguard and take the field with him always. I'll be working on my Cantor model in the future. Stay tuned for more Crimson Fists stuff to come. Drathmere
wonderful. I love the conversions. These are some of the best minis on here. Now I feel the need to up my game! tortoise
Really cool. I especially like the way each tac squad appears to have a corporal (or whatever rank that is in marines) as well as the sarge.
