Fausto2071
I saw it on a list of the worst models ever (playability-wise) and was wondering about your thoughts on it? i plan on getting it either way just cos it looks bad ass. Prathios
A CC machine with an 11 on all sides... It deserves a place on the worst models of all time. Heavy bolters can break this thing, and if you're facing tau, well... <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163613-penitant-engines/#findComment-1923351 Share on other sites

Best model designwise IMO. But I don't think it's the worst unit gamewise in the game. BOLS is really missing the repentia in that list. WAR
Have not used mine yet but I would not field them in squadrons Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163613-penitant-engines/#findComment-1923685 Share on other sites
Cath
I imagine that it you work to screen them really well they could be effective. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163613-penitant-engines/#findComment-1923901 Share on other sites
Sister Rosette Soulknyt
Actully design wise they look amazing. Play wise ok 80 points with a D6 Strength 10 attacks i think they work well. I play 6 of them, all in one charge with screenings and cover if possible, and ive had good results. Several Tau, SpaceMarine and a few BaneBlades really are worried when they see mine now. Look yes they have low armour (11) but they ignore shakenand stunned results so that eliminates 2 out of 6 results if you hurt them. Play smart and use them wisely, dont face them against Tanks in open terrain, or heavy weapons squads, its a waste. They are so effective against infantry. panbient
last match i played i ran a pair of them (still haven't managed to pick up a 3rd one). first turn land raider goes boom. 2nd turn the chaplain and assault marines that were in the LR get reinforced with a dreadnought. they did win that CC, but not before i took out the dread and most of the assault marines. not exactly a bad run in my eyes. they're hardly the worse models out there, but you can't use them like spiffy looking dreads either. running a PE solo is a waste of points, they're only worthwhile in squads. JamesI
I just played against an army that had 3 of them. It took me forever to finally kill them off, but not before they nearly killed every Thousand Son, a bunch of marines, and my defiler! the jeske
they work in squadrons . they are open toped . there are deep strike /outflank/drop pod melta unit played as meta against LR builds and generally against mecha list , what means they get blown up easilly . look at kill kans those are much better [well the mek field and waggh doesnt hurt here] . + each one taken [and you have to spam them to work ] means your list gets less faith , less scoring units. maybe if they cost 40/45 pts , one could play them more . archonbrujah
actually I sometimes run a solo PE in between my Rhinos for my Mech Sisters. Protects the PE, and gives my opponents orks something to discourage them from charging. I have had the single PE wipe a 3 strong can sqaud, so not a shabby little death dealer. Marid
There's a very interesting list that includes them here . And for Adepticon no less... Stelek makes a pretty good case for 'Engines in 5th: Deploy 12". Turn 1: Move 6" + Rage d6" + Run d6" Turn 2: Move 6" + Rage d6" + Assault 6" Total move = 30" + 3d6" with an average of 40.5". Nine 'Engines in front with melta gun totin' troops riding in Rhinos close behind. If I didn't already have a million minis to paint I'd try it. Hooray for the freak show! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163613-penitant-engines/#findComment-1925392 Share on other sites

caanaan
Here is a list I took to a recent local tournament - I didn't get much practice and had some really bad luck/playing while facing a Ork player with 160+ models, but overall felt like it went okay. It is a fun list, and it gets alot of attention, since the Inquisition elements are so rarely seen. Inquisitor Lord Karamazov Priest – w/ eviscerator, carapace armor Inquisitorial Stormtroopers (6) Inquisitorial Stormtroopers (8) – w/ shotguns, 2 melta guns Space Marines (10) - w/ power fist, flamer, multi-melta Drop-pod Space Marines (10) - w/ flamer, multi-melta Drop-pod Penitent Engines (3) Penitent Engines (3) Dreadnaught - w/assault cannon Drop-pod It ended up as a loyalist dread bash--one of the marine units plus the dread come in first turn due to the drop-pod assault rule. They help to keep some attention off of the penitent engines until later in the game (preferably until it is too late). The priest joins the shotgun equipped stormtrooper squad. The Penitent Engines gave people problems every game. Basically, with the new FAQ on the holy rage rule, Penitent engines are certainly better than they used to be. You still need to tailor a list around them--they can't just be tossed in to another list effectively. For their $ cost, I think you really need to like the way they look, but they are great models and are a blast to play with... ValourousHeart
The question is where to stick the Priest. I put mine in a dominion squad. 4 flammers, 2 braizers, 1 pw & 1 ev jumping out of an immolator that was escorting arco and/or pe can be a devistating surprise.
