GTs and assault cannons

Its not in the FaQ, so i was just wondering what GTs usually rule as regards how GK assault cannons work, as it seems rediculous they wouldnt have the space marine stat line.

Sorry, no doubt this has been covered before, but im specifically asking from a GT stand point if anyone knows the answer.

Yep, sorry, but codex always takes precedence over rulebook. Grey Knights do not get rending assault cannons, nor 3++ stormshields etc. But they do retain Force Weapons that can kill anything - including Greater Daemons, Carnifexes, those with Eternal Warrior... it's not all bad. EDIT: That's what I get for not reading the question fully, sorry *Facepalm*. Not sure what the ruling was but I'm sure you could find it if you searched online.
GW run events -- including GTs -- are almost always very simple RAW affairs. However, for the UK GTs, I know that while they didn't fix DH assault cannons (or any of the myriad other broken parts of the DH rules), they specifically FAQ'd that DH force weapons follow the rules in the BRB instead of in the DH armoury ... "for fairness". :)

Wow, way to make the right call GW...So I assume that they also gave PAGKs frag grenades, and allowed our GM to purchase an Iron Halo for 25 pts? You know, just for fairness's sake..

*Edit because im stupid...not an Iron Halo, of course ...i meant Adamantine Mantle, Instant Death protection...

What's the difference between an Iron Halo and an Icon of the Just?

Ok, i'm gonna check my 5th edition SM codex right now...Ok, so for SM using the new codex it's just a 4+ invulnerable save with Iron Halo and no Adamantine Mantle anywhere.... Space wolves don't have either of those available . In the Blood Angels codex, it's a +4 invulnerable as well, Dark Angels don't have it listed in their armoury section and so will reference the SM codex - +4 invulnerable... ( sorry , they do have it listed but no description )Now in the old 4th ed. SM codex the Adamantine Mantle does protect against Instant Death but due to funny wording only in case it's caused by a weapon that has twice the strength of the target's toughness...so no force weapon protection. Couldn't find the black templar codex...probably stashed somewhere....that's about it...

Thread derailment accomplished...

Number6 - do you have a link to that FAQ? I heard about it today from another source as well, and couldn't seem to find it on the net.

I also think it's real strange that the Adepticon FAQ clearly states DH force weapons are different from standard 5e force weapons and DO remove all wounds from a model, thereby removing it from play.

Sadly, I don't. I was shown a copy, but don't know of any electronic distribution of it.

Tournaments -- like individual players -- can come up with any FAQ/Errata/house rules they want. And if you play in the event, you're bound by those rules. Doesn't mean you have to pay attention to them outside of that specific event, however.

If they're forcing you to follow the BRB for DH force weapons, I think it gives you additional leverage to say that, if our force weapons have to be updated to fit with the times, then everything else must be updated as well. Otherwise, they're picking and choosing, which is the worst abuse of Rule-lawyering there is.
