1750 coming up.

Decoy

Recommended Posts

I've been out of the 40K loop for a while, but after a resounding Turn 2 win over Dark Eldar last night, I, spur of the moment, decided to enter into a 1750 tournament, three round.

The total layout of potential armies and known comps is as follows:

Orks: Unknown.

Daemons: Soul Grinder, Daemon Prince of Nurgle, Bloodthirster, "Fiends", one unit of Bloodletters, and four units of unknown category.

Dark Eldar: 6 Raiders , four with ten-man Warriors, one with 9-man Wytch and Dracite, one with five-man Incubi and Archon/Shadowfield. Two Ravagers, Talos, two footslogging Warrior squads.

Eldar: Lots of Guardians, with apparently one each of Aspect squads.

"Chaos Marines": Unknown

Ravenguard: Presumably lots of bikes.

Daemons: Unknown

Chaos Space Marines: Unknown

Tau: Presumed mechanized, from store-talk.

Tyranids: Nidzilla with plenty of Genestealers

Sisters of Battle: Unknown

Mechanized Codex Marines: two Vindies, one Dread, one Ironclad, several Tac squads, two Sternguard, one Vanguard.

"Chaos": Unknown

Death Korps: Completely Unknown to me, presumed Tankheavy.

"Necrons": Unknown.

Space Wolves: Unknown

Space Wolves: One, if not two Land Raider Crusaders with full BC compliment, Dreadnaught, Vindie, Lord with Termie armor and Non-TDA Wolf Guard.

Black Templars: Unknown

Lost and the Damned: Using Imperial Guard codex. (???)

Red Scorpions: Using Deathwing Rules. (???)

"Why are you here, Decoy? To show off a list of enemies"? Naw, folks. Put simply...

I need the help of those of you in the Fang. My 13th Company have only seen five 5th-ed games; All victories, to be sure, but regardless, I don't know how fully 9/10ths of these army lists work.

What I'm asking is this; Would someone advise me on how best to beat, or at least counter, some of these threats? I haven't played new DA, Nids, Eldar, or pretty much anything other than Codex Marines in 5th ed, and I need the collective knowledge of the Rune Priests here to divine my best plan of attack. The tournament is tomorrow (Saturday.) Can anyone help?

Against the eldar if the list is gaurdian heavy its unlikely to have much in the way of aspect warriors... there jsut arent alot of points left. If they have in fact managed to fit in a good number of them then that list is footslogging, I gaurantee it. all of their weapons are going to be AP 5, and dark reapers will be your bain here...

Use wolves against banshees.. who cares about powerweapons with a save like that anyways.

Gaurdians have a 5+, bolter fire will make them into mincemeat.

Firedragons are fast, relatively, and have meltaguns.... so bikes would be a good way to get them in CC without getting hit by their weaponry.

Dark reapers- AP3, str 5 weapons.... Id make these a high priority target for your long fangs, more so even then a wraithlord. 10 shots per squad man.

Striking scorpions- a full squad gets 40+attacks on the charge, but at T3... well think of it as charging bloodclaws without powerweapons.

Psychic powers- warlock powers cant be stopped, its probly a good idea to invest in a rune priests rune staff on this one.

For Nidzilla army , use your long fangs with max out Las cannon , top priority will be carnifexes , then Ruin priest with grey slayers (2 plas guns or 2 flamers ( hid in somewhere they cant outflank you in games start but do what ever you want them to) , once steelers arrive , gate in a safe distance shoot (use flamers if you can) and try not to get into CC (Gate out even if your in CC afterwards) keep doing to wear down the numbers of stelars)

the rest of your amry id say bring some bikes to harasse the nidzillas , while your grey slayers / storm claws / HQ make a crossfire net
