orphanfeast99
One of my friends who isnt so good a converting wants me to make him a MOTF.....with a wrist mounted beamer (left handed) so i figure i will clean up a apothicary arm (thingy, dont know the fluffy name), add the housing of a necron gun (sans-barrel assembly), and for the "barrel" flip around the front end of an old heavy flamer, you know those cold shaped monstrosities, i think metal IG's still come with them. Im posting this here to get some advise/fluff ranting on things i should do to make this thing look awesome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163874-wrist-mounted-beamer/ Share on other sites
Huron
The Conversion Beamer is Heavy, right? Seems like that's the exact opposite of 'wrist-mounted'. All the various versions over the years, from RT through space crusade etc. have shown it as a shoulder-mounted heavy weapon. Not that it necessarily matters, but the official one will probably be just barely man-portable, on the scale of the heavy plasma or even larger, and dripping with hoses and wires. FWIW I'm planning to use an old titan arm weapon as the basis for mine, but I'm also fitting it to a bike... cathar the great
I'd say go for it man. But don't forget that it also replaces the Servo Harness of the Techmarine and don't forget that with Space Marines, even wrist mounted or underslung weapons can be huge, just look at AssCannons and Heavy Flamers of Terminators. If it looks good, you win, if not, well it's your army, you can do whatever you want. orphanfeast99
I currently have the thing hooked into the biggest custom made power plant i could possibly put on a normal marine, and there is so many data feeds and wires that it ti rediculos, but the acutal housing of the beamer itself is only about the size of a stormbolter, any one have any suggestions of what i could logicaly use (bitz/conversion wise) to get the thing into the "big'ol weapon" range Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163874-wrist-mounted-beamer/#findComment-1927374 Share on other sites
Dragonkin Arenis
I currently have the thing hooked into the biggest custom made power plant i could possibly put on a normal marine, and there is so many data feeds and wires that it ti rediculos, but the acutal housing of the beamer itself is only about the size of a stormbolter, any one have any suggestions of what i could logicaly use (bitz/conversion wise) to get the thing into the "big'ol weapon" range I think we'd need a picture or two to get a really good idea of what to put on, and to see your work so far... But i'm thinking, maybe a mix of so many Lasguns your eye begins to bleed, or possibly a bit o' Alien technology thrown in there... Anyway... Good luck with it, buddy Arenis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/163874-wrist-mounted-beamer/#findComment-1935335 Share on other sites
chapter master 454
I am doing such a conversion but mounting it on a powerfist as to make it believable since the power fist enhances the users strength. And if I remember correctly the conversion beamer looks a hell alot like a plasma gun, just mounted onto the servo-harness in one slot and looks like it can fold back easily. Nothing in 40k is out of hand, if you want crazy you should see my chapter masters bankai conversion. Hell I even made a BFG for a future model idea. Besides techmarines often have a ton load of tools on one hand anyway that would most likely weight far greater than the beamer. but ofcourse it's gonna look funny if you make a bulky thing appear on a skinny arm. Kikunosuke
Rather than wrist-mounted, I'm thinking that you mean gauntlet-mounted? If it's gauntlet-mounted I don't see a problem as yet. Definitely need to post some pics of your conversion beamer to get more constructive criticism.
