Apostolos
Traitor City Brother Captain Apostolos nodded acknowledging the fact that his small force of Grey Knights were coming into position of where the traitors had been spotted. Shielded to the core with undying faith in the Emperor he had no doubts in this battle which was just mere moments from developing, he still had to admit to himself the fervor that was rising within him has he and his loyal knights approached this encounter within heart of some of the oldest and most battle seasoned land raiders within the Ordo Malleus. From his reports all of the previous forces of the Imperium that had come to cleanse this area had mysteriously disappeared without any communication upon arrival. One thing was certain, the forces of Chaos were present and needed to be dealt with. In that moment as Brother Captain Apostolos was considering the mystery of what he was up against, two armored units came in view of the sensors on the console. A heartbeat later Justicar Servantous reported that his far left flanking unit was taking fire from lascannons, another heartbeat Apostolos found himself being slammed into the hull as the entire land raider shook and rumbled from a demolisher shell that had exploded within the earth mere meters in front of them. His voice thundering above the rumbling of the land raider issuing the order open fire! The Chaos predator and vindicator had indeed gotten the drop on the knights however, protected by their faith in the Emperor as well as the finest armor in all the Imperium, the element of surprise was short lived. Squad Servantous had a clear line on the vindicator which was sending powerful demolisher shells into the air and sent the vile traitors a taste of the Emperor's Justice as their lascannons anointed the vindicator instantaneously forming a mountain of flame so righteous that two nearby traitor marines where consumed in the holy flames. Justicar Vorin and his squad were rolling along side Apostolos's right flank when he noticed that ruined building in front Apostolos and his retinue of terminators had been giving too much cover from the their lascannons reaching the remaining predator. He bellowed the order to move up full speed and in mere seconds the land raider had cleared the ruins bringing into view the predator that had been pecking at squad Servantous. Powered by the Machine Spirit the land raider which carried Vorin and his squad fired a lone lascannon that hit true into the belly of the predator destroying it in an instant. Apostolos had taken in all that had just happened within first moment of the battle seeing how his loyal Justicars had display their valor in destroying the threat posed against another instead of merely fending for themselves. This moment of honor soon met with a hissing sound inside his mind, the wards etched into his skin began to burn white hot and a firm look of contempt burst onto Apostolos's face as he opened his mouth daemon the Emperor rebuke you. In that instant the hissing raised louder but with a hint of pain or even fear and finally was gone. Pressing forward all the while the Grey Knights had dispatched the enemy's armor and now moved into position to see two squads of marines hiding in the ruins ahead of them. Vorin saw that a third squad was approaching directly in front of him. The land raiders advanced aided by the Machine Spirit continued pouring lascannon fire into the traitors turning some into smoking piles of rubble. The traitors had not expected that three land raiders would befall them but in the coming moments land raiders would be the least of there worries. Justicar Servantous prepaired his squad by telling them we will disembark and flank the traitors. The hatch of the land raider open and the squad began moving up to the left flank as they saw Apostolos's land raider rolling up in front of the ruined building housing a squad of traitors. Just in the instant as the last knight of Servantous's squad poured out of the land raider a whistling sound came in from over head and in the next moment an explosion of earth at feet of the last two knights to come out of the land raider sent them flying back into it's hull. Servantous looked up to see a small squad of traitors hiding on the roof of the ruins above. In unison as one action each knight raised their left arm sending a volley of stormbolter rounds up to the roof of the ruined building exploding everywhere around and in the traitor squad wiping it out. Servantous looked around at his squad saying we shall return for the fallen but now, onwards! Apostolos turned to face his most loyal retinue and spoke it is time. In that instant the hatch lowered in the front of the land raider and Apostolos backed by his retinue came storming out with the traitors right in front of them. At his right side, Apostolos watched as the left arm raised from a member of his retinue revealing the holy incinerator that took flame to the traitors. The next moment saw the remaining four left arms raise in unison as stormbolters exploded into the air. Screams of agony filled the ears of all in the frey. Kicking the traitor in front of him the evil sergeant roared for a counter charge. This Chaos warped shell of a space marine was ruthless indeed as he grabbed the back of the same traitor who he seconds earlier had kicked, pushing him forward as a shield into the storming terminators. His tactic proved useful as the stomach of the traitor marine shield met with the halberd of one the terminators. This was all the Chaos sergeant needed to distract the terminator so that he could send his own crackling power sword into the neck of the terminator. The sergeant seeing the terminator fall at his feet looked up, eyes blood raged at Apostolos who was in that moment removing the heads of two traitors himself. Leaping forward through the mess of dying traitors which in this very moment seemed to be nothing more than a distraction so that the sergeant could come from behind and slay Apostolos in his back. Raising his power sword and beginning a high arch on the unsuspecting brother captain the traitor sergeant was just a blink of an eye from taking out one of the Imperium's finest leaders. A member of his loyal retinue in the last moment saw what was about to happen to his beloved leader and threw himself into the blade that nearly fell onto Apostolos. The impact of the blade sent the loyal terminator slamming into the back of Apostolos which in turn sent Apostolos forward to his knees. Raising up and twisting from the ground Apsotolos faced the scene before him. The sergeant shaken from the fact that his efforts to slay the brother captain in the back now gone began to back pedal. The last of the traitors from the squad had now been vanquished and only the sergeant remained. Apostolos now understanding that this terminator had fell protecting him charged the sergeant sending his force nemesis blade into the mid section of the sergeant and raising him from the ground. Girgling sounds escaped from his mouth and his body was flung from the blade into a pile of rubble. The terminator carrying the incinerator stepped forward and flamed down the remains to ashes. Servantous and his squad came up in time to see a fire burning as one of the terminators lowering his incinerator. We shall continue to advance Apostolos ordered for all under the sound of his voice to hear and obey. They began running through ruins to the rear of the building seeing Vorin's land raider approaching the last traitor squad. In that instant the traitor squad came to a halt as the traitor leader walked forward from his squad laughing crazily bollewing out the word FOOLS! In the blink of an eye the traitors had simply vanished. Apostolos had seen teleportation, even been teleported himself but this was different. He reasoned at what had just happened but dismissed the confusion knowing that in time possibly sooner than later the Emperor would guide him into what exactly was unfolding here. Apostolos
Thanks so much for the positive feedback. It didn't make it into the story but my opponent had a squad of LotD that never made in it(bat reserve rolls). He was using codex marines. The traitors that shot Servantous's squad with the missile I had actually unloaded and opened fire the turn before with some poor shooting then he used the small template missile and hit causing like six wounds, 2 of which I failed but then Servantous and squad started shooting better. Since he infiltrated with the squad I made it sound as though they got the jump on the knights which fit well in the story I thought. I usually forget all the little things when I try to write up a regular report, this is my first narrative and I think this the way to go from now on. Thanks again for the feedback, I will be playing this weekend and I will definitely have to set up a game that will fit in with the theme.
